Far too many var interruptions and not enough in time action for it to be considered the best match. I think they said the ball was in play less than any other match over the last 2 years. I can see why neutral fans would enjoy the drama and the chaos though.

and that is all Sky and the PL care about in the end. It is why VAR isnt going anywhere because as shit as it is, it creates drama and talking points and more aspects of a game for them to sell.

Why do Villa fans hate us? I always thought of Spurs as a fairly inoffensive club. Other than local rivals, why would anyone be bothered? It would be like me arbitrarily hating Coventry or someone.

And "one of the Sky favourites"? Seriously?

Do you not think it seems like "a thing" to hate us?

I love this. Classic Little Englander mindset. "Postecoglu" is pronounced exactly as it is written, whereas to pronounce "Howe" correctly you have to be aware that the "e" is silent.
But… if you don’t make the “e” silent his name sounds more like a very Newcastle greeting ‘Howay’

We’re the consistent punch line within football media so it’s only natural that others will follow along.

Take it as a compliment, nobody talks about hating Brighton as they don’t see them as a long term threat (used to hate it when Fergie spoke glowingly about us, I’d rather be hated than patronised).

Everybody hates us mate - we are universally seen as a club who thinks they are much more important and worthy than most other clubs despite us generally winning absolutely fuck all in decades. Plus it's a London club so people outside of London don't like that. We are seen as arrogant with nothing to back it up generally. We do get a lot more coverage on Sky, talksport, etc. compared to the likes of Villa, Everton and other similar sized clubs and that is bound to wind people up as well.

Yeah it’s just jealousy. Hate is such a strong word though. I mean we hate arsenal and Chelsea but the others aren’t really on the same level to use that word (although I probably have in this thread in the past!).

I remember having a weekend in Birmingham to watch the boxing. Got chatting to various fans. Seems we're hated because they see us as an average club but think we're one of the biggest.

We seem to symbolise a London attitude with thinking we're well above others with little to back it up.

I started to wonder if it's because at one point we were all fighting to be the one to break the big 4 (5 once City came along). We consistently broke in and stayed up until recently. I think it's part jealousy and part the cool thing to do.

Maybe things have changed over the years, or I was too young for that tribal stuff when I started supporting Spurs, but as someone who's very much not from London, I never saw Spurs that way. Living in the North East I can say that Newcastle have a way bigger chip on their shoulder then we may do. And Villa are always bringing their European Cup win up. As for more coverage... I mean, we've been one of the best teams in the country for nearly 10 years. While these clubs we're mentioning here have been relegation fodder. I guess it's just envy at clubs higher in the table.

Or maybe its just bollocks and football fans just generally hate anyone who's not them.

I always hear people hate on Spurs in London. Even events that have nothing to do with football. I just find it funny that people pay us so much attention. I tend to not really give a shit about other clubs until we play them or until we're at the business end of the season fighting teams for places.

Another thing that makes me laugh is it always seems to be arsenal fans who wear their arsenal shirt to non football events. Its like its their 1 good shirt.

They haven't got used to the media calling us one of the big 6. It used to be a big 4 at one point. Spurs broke that because we kept finishing top 4 and finished above their top 4 a number of times. So they started to call it a top 6 with us included and of course City got added too. We also were then one of the ones to be invited to the super league. I just don't think they've got used to the fact we've been finishing top 6 a lot over the last decade or so. They still see us as overachieving but there has to come a point where they realise if it happens time and again it's not overchieving anymore. We're hated by teams because they don't think we belong as Sky's big 6. They think we're overchieving but we think we should be pushing on because we've been top 6 a lot knocking on the door for titles.

Lets be honest, we should have had at least one PL and one UCL in the recent years.

I have zero confidence going into this game. Can see it being 3 losses on the bounce. Don’t have the defensive capabilities at the moment with this high line. If I were a Villa fan I’d be licking my lips at this fixture with the players we will have missing.

This x100.

we’ve won precisely fuck all, yet us fans act like we are one of the big boy winner clubs.

no doubt about it, most other teams fans don’t like spurs.

agree, with their pace on the wings and generally they are one of the most in-form teams in the league i think this will be a very easy win for villa
