Arsenal Mania
  • They play the most entertaining football in the league along with Lfc after selling their club icon. Mik’s 5 year Stalinist plan has so far failed to deliver; so they should be happy that they are mimicking his greatest success without the budget and time required for a moon landing like Arteta has had. As an Arsenal fan i root against Sp.rs every match, yet as a lover of football i look forward to their football. Artetaball in comparison despite massive time and money looks in comparison like walking in in on a fat old couple shagging. After you see it, you wish you didn’t. No joke this season back to falling asleep in matches like his first 2 and a half years
  • Artetaball is canned tuna fish on the eyes while Ange's style of football filet mignon
  • They've had a great start but have yet to be properly tested.
  • Ange has killed it, and him and Emery are proving this multiyear costly project to train a neophyte manager has been a disaster
  • Kimchi Messi and Meatball Bale doing bits tonight, shame as both the original Bale and this version are Arsenal fans
  • Got a chance to look at Romero tonight.
All, I can say is...
  • He was outstanding, to be honest. Him and that Dutch kid look a perfect pairing.
It’s no wonder he was an ever present in a World Cup winning team.
****ing gutted they got him so cheap
  • Ridiculous how Sp**s stumbled upon Ange. The majority of their fanbase didn’t even want in the summer smh
  • I swear i would give the filth Arteta, Kai, and 50 million pound of Stan’s money to give us Ange?
  • On just one condition, they must promise to never give either of them back
  • 100% 😂 I won’t even hide it and that’s not even me jumping on this hype train. You can go back to early last year when I wanted Ange to replace him. I’m a massive fan of the style of football he gets his teams to play and I think he’d be more in the AW type of mould for us, both on and off the pitch imo. Having said that I think at this current time the club have heavily backed Arteta so there’s no point at this stage. Better to just see how everything pans out.
Funnily, I did predict that he’d end up at Sp**s. Had a feeling that Levy would go for him:
  • VDV is a better defender than Romero already IMO. Able to play both defensive and play restarting roles at the back
  • VDV the new VVD? He looks class
  • Has there ever been a club more overrated over their first 10 games than this lot?
If there is, I've probably missed them.
They drew at Brentford who looked the likelier to win at the time. Beat a hapless & profligate United (who actually should've won). Beat 3 relegation candidates on the spin (Bournemouth, Burnley & Sheffield United) with the latter needing 2 injury time goals to be defeated.
Let off the hook by us after being made to look ordinary for most of the match.
Needed PGMOL incompetence to beat Liverpool (who would've won had they had 10 men on the pitch, let alone 11).
Barely got past Luton & Palace.
Ironically enough their match against Fulham was their only comprehensive performance.
  • After the first 10 games of the season: ◎ Arsenal 2003/04: 24 points, 0 defeats ◉ Spurs 2023/24: 26 points, 0 defeats Tottenham are ahead of the Invincibles pace.

  • Disrespectful is putting it mildly!!
Nothing Sp**s can conjure up in their entire history merits mentioning in the same breath as THAT Arsenal.
  • Ange was not wanted by Sp**s fans. He lost his top striker (and arguably Sp**s best player of all time) Few expected him to last long given they played United, us and Liverpool in their first 7 games. Starting away to Brentford - we know how difficult that is. That's 4 hard games. Brentford away, United at home. That could have been a 0 pointer.
The easy run came about because they played three promoted sides in Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United, then Bournemouth. That's 4 'easy' games out of 10
I'm not sure I'd describe a team that finished 8th playing teams that finished 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 9th, 10th and 11th (50% of games v top half teams) as easy.
If anything I'm putting the pressure on them. You've done this it's on you now to sustain it. Saying theyve had it easy, na. That gives them an opt out for when they do lose. No mercy. Let the fall hurt them.
  • This all reads very much like us last season. The main difference being that sp*rs are ****.
  • Personally thought Ange would be gone by Christmas but complete opposite has happened. I don't fear them winning the league or anything but they're serious contenders for CL places now which shouldn't have been possible. Thank **** Kane is gone or a title could've been a possibility.
  • It also pisses me off that he can walk in there and get a terrible squad performing like that. It took us a lot of wasted years and loads of personnel changes to get to that
  • Great start, fair play. It will all fall apart soon though.
“Fall apart” in terms of top of the table, otherwise a solid season looks on the cards.
  • Tbf even though I am an Angesexual, I don’t think the Sp**s squad was as poor as it is often made out. Conte just did a terrible, terrible job with them last yr
  • imagine Kane scoring his 30-40 goals (in an ange team you would expect this) on top of an in form Son who looks the goods this season. That number of goals would have had them pretty well placed
This might be the most spursy thing of all, Kane‘a timing to leave
  • Did say Maddison over Havertz all summer btw but certain posters (@drippin) said it was a stupid idea
  • I'd still only have taken Maddison from them
  • Find it incredibly stupid how people here are trying their hardest to laugh at them when they sit at 26 points after 10 games. It’s extraordinary really.
  • Romero is a great defender, if not so good on the ball, Van de Ven looks class on and off the ball. Pedro Porro is good, whilst I rate Destiny Udogie who is only 19 or 20 and looks very comfortable already (a bit like saliba on entering the PL). They have Bissouma who we know is very good, Sarr who is also very young, talented with a massive engine. And their most talented midifielder in Bentancur is just coming back. I think up front they probably need upgrades, Kulu and Richarlison could probably be upgraded on, in adddition to getting another striker. Like us in the past, they drop off considerably outside their first 11

Some very balanced views and posters there.

  • They’d better be. Seem to remember Spurs next few fixtures being quite kind so this feels like their best chance of dropping points for a while. Which is a bit mad when you’re pinning your hopes on the owl.
  • How did Spurs get such a simple first 10 games
  • On another forum they'll be complaining they've had to play Monday then Friday in the same week.
    I must admit that's a bit unusual
  • Postecoglu is quite likeable but Tottenham are still as bad as ever in the diving stakes
  • How are they not embarrassed by that shit.
  • Spurs fans moaning on the bbc site that they get no help from the officials
  • context of BBC is that it would be Spursy (i.e - a failure) for them to finish 5th after this start to the season.
So Spurs guaranteed CL and probably Title Contenders apparently. Considering 5th is 7 points behind with a game in hand that is of course completely insurmountable.
Frankly Spurs are absolutely running away with it, let's be honest
  • Spurs have looked ropey when pressed in defense all season. So big brain Hodgson does the complete opposite
  • Didn’t watch the game, just saw the score and they got 2 goals with 1 shot on target
    ;D
When your luck's in your luck's in I spose!
  • Nonsense, they're amazing, no one could have done a better job after 10 games than Postecoglu.
  • VDV looks some player. Shame we didn't take the plunge.
  • Win our next two and we're above Spurs before they play next
  • Absolutely everything is going their way at the moment - crazy decisions, OGs, late late goals, no injuries, no midweek games.
But the bit people are missing is their fixtures as well - aside from Arsenal (which can always be mad anyway) and City, they have every other top 10 team at home in the first half of the season. That's a lot of tough aways to come later for them.
I reckon they could be top, or near the top, at Christmas, but struggling for top 4 by the end of the season. Probably not a bad idea to bet on them now, then cash out later when their odds come in.
  • They’ve played 3 top half teams. They beat a turbogash United at home, celebrated a historic draw against Arsenal and beat us (with only 9 men) via a last minute own goal in one of the most corrupt refereeing displays you’re ever likely to see. The commentator on the stream I was watching tonight kept talking about it being a “statement” win. A narrow victory against a shite Palace side missing their two best players, where they needed another own goal and created next to nothing all evening. What statement?
Let’s see how they get on when they have a couple more games against sides who can actually play football.
  • absolutely if ever there was a false league position it is this one, they certainly aren't dominating games.
They also have the added advantage of not being in Europe this year.
Part of me though would find it hilarious if they were to win something this season after Sir Harold fucked off to Bayern!
  • The only thing that annoys me about Spurs is that it was supposed to be us on top of the table
  • Deservedly so. Otherwise, who cares. They’ll melt away like snow under heavy stream of warm piss. As they always do. Angelic Positiveclue will shamelessly complain about referees, much lauded Maddison will do what he did to Leicester and give up, their fans will ramble about Kane never being replaced and everyone will just turn their attention elsewhere.

  • officially bored of the spurs love in.

  • No one even bothers to mention how bloody corrupt that game was too. Does my head in.
If it was the other way around they’d never let us forget about it.
  • for me they're definitely finishing on 75-80+ points
Hahaha it's like they're almost still bitter.

I think it's more a case of you wont win the title now no matter you position on the table, rather that April is when you win it.... look at Arsenal last season coasting along until they had pre-ejaculation nerves in April.
No, it was part of a conversation about our April schedule when we play Newcastle, City, Arsenal, Liverpool back to back.

Okay that makes loads of sense.... I haven't gone that far down the fixture schedule....i always look at our next 3 upcoming fixtures. No more than that.

BTW that fixture scheduled is fixed... no ways you get all 4 in a row.

Red Cafe (Postecoglu Thread)
  • Unbeaten. Scored in every single game. Currently top of the league. Best start to a season since 1980 for Spurs. Ange Postecoglou signed his contract just 4 months ago.
  • Any manager can look good if they’ve only got one game every week, especially with the players he has at his disposal.
  • Bentancur coming back will be huge for you also.
I reckon you’re a centre back (back up), striker and winger away from a very very good side with good back up.
I thought Postecoglu would have signed Kyogo as a back up as he loved him at Celtic. Maybe doesn’t feel he can step up.
  • Done well this season and he comes with glowing references from Celtic so he's certainly much better than I stupidly thought here in my ignorance (when he joined Celtic). But I think Spurs will fall prey to the hype machine just like Brighton. For Brighton as soon as talk of a title challenge was uttered it started to become shaky. Now Postecoglou has gone on record tooting his own horn saying people underrate his record due to where he has managed but he's always just loved winning and that's what he's done. Think it will start to unravel quite a bit now that the magic dust is worn off
  • Typical case of a talented up-and-coming manager replacing an old dinosaur(s) in Conte (and José) with better tactical ideas for this current era of football, but if 12 months ago you said Ange, Arteta, ETH, Alonso, De Zerbi etc. were better than them you would be ridiculed because people are so fixated on trophies and past achievements.
  • Ange is four years older and has seven more years experience as manager than Conte. Calling him up-and-coming and Conte a dinosaur is weird at best.
It indeed looks like he currently is a better fit than Conte, but you can't make this about age. Grouping him and EtH together with Arteta and Alonso is weird at best, as these are different generations.
  • The context though is that they were very lucky not to go 2-0 or 3-0 down in the first half against United, lucky to catch Arsenal at a time when they had a ton of injuries and on short rest, then lucky to face a 9 man Liverpool while still needing a freak own goal with 15 seconds left to play to secure the points. They’ve caught every break you can imagine so far. (Gooner)
  • Sounds like Arsenal in the first half of the season last year!
  • Been the best manager in the league this season. Assuming Maddison & Son can stay fit, I see no reason they can't challenge
  • there is a greater possibility of them missing out on Cl qualification then having title challenge that last the distance even if they keep everybody fit
  • We're a joke, Chelsea can't finish to save their lives, they're better than Villa and the team that has the highest chance to fall off is Newcastle because of the CL and Tonali's impending suspension. They easily make top 5.
  • he has given Spurs fans something to be happy about.
  • Wish he was here instead of the fraud we have
  • I wasn't talking about age. Conte, Mourinho etc. arrived at the top level 10-20 years ago. They seem completely burnt out and too stubborn to leave their old methods behind to reinvent themselves.
Ange is stubborn and consistently says he'll not change the system he's used over his career. It was one of his weaknesses in Europe for Celtic.
  • Very impressive so far, makes ETH look like a mug.
  • The weakness in Europe was the weakness of Scottish football, not Ange's
The players simply arent good enough and neither of the old firm are able to attract enough players of the required level. they will attract the odd player good enough but cant attract the type of squad required.
Not really true. Rangers were in a European final a couple of years ago and I’m sure made the quarters of the Europa League just before that. Celtic have been embarrassed in Europe at every turn.
  • Come on, we are talking about the Champions league.
You are blinded by your old firm rivalry to admit we are just awful with respect to the levels required to play consistently and escape the Champions league groups. We dont attract the numbers of quality players need to compete in the champions league at any sort of decent level on any sort of consistent level.
  • It’s so depressing as a United fan watching other coaches instantly install a style of play into their club in a matter of weeks. Not just that but the atmosphere surrounding the club and dressing room is so positive
  • A penny for Harry Kane’s thoughts
‘ol Arry left cos they could never win anything and now…. Early days yet, but yeah
  • Magnificent job so far. The way they recruited, their style of play, the way he handled the Kane exit, making Son the captain... Absurdly good until now
  • Very impressive so far, makes ETH look like a mug.
A mug? Really...The difference between managing Utd and Spurs is huge. AP has literally got a free hit with a good squad of players. Has done great so far, but it's literally ten games into the season. The amount of shite ETH has had to put up with is actually ridiculous, on top of all the injuries. You have a seriously short memory anyway. Spurs were 3rd after ten games last season. How did it end up for them? Who will be the mug after 38? Laughable shite at this point out of you.
  • Laughable from you at this point.
ETH is a complete mug. He had a free hit in the transfer market and screwed it up completely. Compare his transfer budgets with Spurs budgets.
Are you watching how we play and how our best players are performing? ETH has got them and us going backwards.
  • I love big Ange'sballs
  • If we don’t win the league (we won’t) then I hope Spurs do. We need some variety in terms of title challengers which might set the tone for a more balanced fight up top in the seasons ahead. Sick of a couple of teams having a stranglehold over the title challenge.
But Spurs being spurs, they will likely cede the title fight early on to City and Arsenal.
  • People do realise 1 game per week is a manger’s DREAM. They can work on drills everyday without needing to have rest days (max light training), or 2/3 days opposition analysis.
We realize. He’s still been very impressive
  • They will drag it to the final day and bottle it against a relegated Sheffield United or something like that.
I'd much rather Spurs win the league than any of City, Liverpool or Arsenal, but the scenario you've just described would be so funny it'd be almost worth it!
  • Ange is doing great (so far) he is making a lot of new managers coming into the league look bad.

His first season (so far) is looking better than Pep’s first season, never mind Klopp, Arteta and EtH.
It's actually the best start any new manager has had in PL history. In fact Ange already held that title after the previous match, so he's extended it further with the win over Palace.
  • I see no reason why spurs can't be serious title threat, arsenal did it out of nowhere last season. That second goal is something we can only dream of seeing under ten hag zombie football
  • Living proof of how big an impact getting the right manager can be. He fits Spurs perfectly, especially after they wasted their time with Mourinho and especially Conte.
  • While I am a big fan of Ange and his style of play, the game with Crystal Palace is a nice example of people seeing what they want to see. I watched the game and I don't think the performance was all that good, to be honest. Just like our game against Crystal Palace (who are incredibly organized), Spurs hardly created anything. There were no "patterns of play". There was a lot of aimless passing. Spurs had 0 shots on target in the first half (Palace had 2). For the whole game, they had 1 shot on target with 75% possession. We had 4 shots on target with 77% possession. The fine margins in football mean that while we conceded a world-class goal through Joachim Andersen, Spurs got a deflected goal early in the second half. The interesting thing is that had we won that game, we'd be on a 4-game winning streak in the league.
Not to take anything away from Ange though. He is brilliant.
I disagree. Its about control at least in the 2nd half
Spurs went ahead through pressing and Maddison smashing the ball with quality into a dangerous area with a cross. The defender felt he had to do something or someone behind him scores a free goal and it forced the mistake into his own net.
Once they did this Spurs played the ball between the keeper and Romero like 20 times until Palace gave up sitting off and pressured them to try and make a mistake. Spurs then immediately counter attacked with a great move like a hot knife through butter and and scored a really good team goal killing off the game and securing 3 points
Palace got a goal back although it was clearly a ball that was controlled with the help of a hand to make it look closer.
  • It is success when nobody had them down as even finishing near a ucl spot and yet they have already given themselves a great chance with their start even if they have a bad patch in the season
  • Spurs have clear patterns of play, every single player knows exactly what they are doing, every single one. Their right back and both centre halves are playing excellent football, all v good on the ball (the right back is a proper footballer..) and you have James Maddison with a free role, which helps tie their whole game together
  • They are miles, miles ahead of us and Ange hasn't been there a for v long.
  • the swash buckling football just reminds me of the old united way

  • I'd like to congratulate Spurs on winning the league, Maddison for winning player of the year, Son for being top scorer and Ange for winning manager of the month every month.
    Remarkable achievement, incredible.
We should all be in awe.
  • It's Tottenham. You don't have to go to this kind of effort.
Kind of now makes me think they're actually going to do it.
  • It was Brighton last week, Spurs now.. who will BEAT football next?
  • I think Spurs have beaten football by more than Brighton. Lost their best ever scorer and still win the league.
    It's an unprecedented feat
  • Spurs have beaten Sports
  • In the words of every pundit out there "credit where credit is due, all credit to spurs"
  • No jealousy to be seen here whatsoever
  • Spurs had one shot on target and scored two goals. All hail!
  • Its 2023 and people still being jealous
  • I'd rather Spurs win it then Arsenal/City/Liverpool
    Exactly.
  • They don't have a hope of still being top by Christmas
  • United are Tottenham
    New Tottenham or old Tottenham?
  • Old - the new Tottenham look like the Old United
    For now
  • I really hope Spurs win it. Only club that would be ok if they win out of those who will challenge.
  • Biggest win since those Jamaican guys beat ice.
  • The praise gets annoying when it's a double edge sword that criticises United every time. It's kind of made their recent good spell unlikable, it's like there's a little Glaston is every post
  • They're not a very exciting team but if they can keep up this form then you can only say fair play. You can't play like City do if you don't have an oligarch XI, they're making the most of what they have, and they do play great football
  • I'd rather Glaston be made a mod for a year then Liverpool winning the league
  • I wish we were good enough to bottle the league
  • For some reason I’m not that bothered about a potential Liverpool win. Yeah they’re our biggest rivals, but they’re also a real club with real history. Spurs on the other hand can do one, can’t really verbalise why but there you go. Same for Arsenal.
  • Actively rooting for them even though their chance to win the title is slim to none. Way better outcome than having one of the other three contenders win and Ange really looks like a top bloke

I know this poster is an outlier as far as United fans go but this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. You'd rather your biggest historic rival equal your number of league titles?

If the first person wants Arsenal/City/Liverpool to finish 2nd/3rd/4th, do they want their own team to finish 5th?

And why does the second person want Liverpool to win the league the following season?

Strange.

  • Spurs win 2-1 with 1 shot on target. Keep thinking the luck will run out but no signs of it yet. With all the rest they are getting im genuinely getting a bit worried they could do this.
  • It’s not even November yet mate, wouldn’t worry about it. As Neville said they haven’t got the squad to do it. Arsenal were far more convincing than these last season and were a good 10 points ahead at one point
  • Arsenal had Arteta though. Postecoglou is a serial winner albeit in lesser leagues but he knows how to win. If I’m honest, my concern is that spurs will back him in January and he will get the additional 2 players, maybe 3 that he needs to kick on.
I’m not saying they’ll win the league but they’ve got a chance with this bloke.
  • On the subject of Spurs’ annoyingly good start to the season, I also remember people saying Leicester’s bubble would burst, that they didn’t have the depth of squad and they won’t be able to keep going.
    Just saying
  • Anyone saying "Just saying" on this site in future will receive a lifetime ban. Or longer.

what a hideous thing to suggest
  • I know, doesn’t bear thinking about.
Tottenham 5 points clear at top of Premier League
What kind of ****ed up world is this?
  • Harry Kane leaves, and they stage their best shot at a title in decades. Got to find a 'gloat' somewhere.

"Spurs are lucky that...", seems to be a common theme in some of these other teams' fans threads.

We're lucky that sharks can't come on land, we're lucky that paving slabs don't scream with agony when stepped on and my mate Becky is lucky she wasn't born with wheels instead of legs as her career as a ballerina would've been a struggle.

Hypothetical realities don't mean shit, it's like the house of commons sometimes.

  • Spurs not as good as people make out or are they proper off it today
  • Soft as fuck these Spurs CBs
  • What?
  • Van De Ven is the buy of the season. Most rapid CB in the league
  • Van De Ven is rapid and looks like he is going to develop into an elite CB. But my word. What an absolute fanny. Gone down twice like he needs stretchering off. Then he’s fine 30 seconds later. Proper embarrassing. Makes Schar look like Vinnie Jones in comparison.
  • Richarlison all set to score and reveal his hentai tattoo today, to derail Tottenham's season just as expected.
  • Spuds winning again.
  • FFS Palace you shit ****s
  • Be a great result for Spurs this. They’ve been surgically with the PL bottom half so far.
  • Will Spurs ever lose again?
  • Wouldn't get too upset. Don't think we're competing with Spurs this year.
Spurs are a Maddison injury away from being a mid-table side. Still early days
  • Think Spurs are nailed for the CL. Got some work to catch them. Dont see it.
  • Think Spurs are riding a bit of a wave atm, lots of things going in their favour but they're in a bit of a false position imo. New manager bounce still in effect, nice set of fixtures, no European football and getting a few nice breaks in the games too. Still got to win the game and point sand they have been so far so it's fair enough but I don't think it's sustainable over 38 games. They'll still finish top 6 minimum but they'll regress a little and dip. Momentum is a big thing and once it goes it's really tough
  • remove Maddison from the team and they are average at best
  • Son is some player
  • They are on pace to win the league. A dip is finishing 3rd at this rate. I think they could do an Arsenal and challenge a bit until the nerves kick in.
A lot of people wrote them off at the start of the season. Never understood it.
  • Spurs aren’t conceding many goals and it’s annoying me on FPL.
  • I just don't really believe Spurs. Have the faced any adversity this season? Jorginho basically rolled the ball into his own net with his hands for them for god's sake
  • Just can't hate Maddison. Great player and journey
  • I know it has become kind of a meme to talk about what Maddison would do for us, but imagine Maddison behind Isak.
  • Postecoglu making Conte look an absolute dunce. Having lost Kane too.
The whole Bissouma thing is particularly shocking.
  • Stuck record and I know everyone is saying it. But Ange really is quality and a breath of fresh air. I’m sure there are lots of ‘normal’ people in management. But none that seem to also be so talented and come across so well in the media.
