All the talk of our easy start but Villa and arsenal have both similar starts

Villa played 6 of the same teams as us. Played a couple of stronger mid table teams but played 5 home games to our 4. Played 2 of the top 6, same as us but our games were harder.

Arsenal very similar in terms of quality of opposition but played 6 home games to our 4

Newcastle have had a really tough start to the season.

Maybe not but Hansen, Lawro, Dixon, Brooking have were bringing their club bias in 30 years ago and Des was open about supporting Brighton i believe. Its the same in the press, the voices are always 15-20 years after the success of a team hence Liverpool dominated the press from the 80s through to the 00s followed by Utd through to today and in 10-15 years all the press will be City fans as the kids now will be the reporters, presenters and editors of the future.

Again there is a huge difference between saying you want a team (an underdog in this case) to win and saying they let them win. It’s ridiculous, and worthy of tin hats not serious debate. I agree that sky helped them out with the scheduling but everything else is just conspiracy theory level nonsense. You talk about Stoke - they played Leicester in September and January. They lost 4-0 to us at home in April so their motivation helped them out loads didn’t it? It’s just utter shite

I got part of my post incorrect, but I am entitled to a view that league managers publicly expressing a view about who they wanted to win the title, when they had at least one of the teams to play, is not professional or appropriate. It was not the Sky TV scheduling, it was the refereeing decisions in some of the matches as well, like everyone just wanted them to win it that season. I do not begrudge Leicester, it was remarkable what they achieved, but there was some helping hands along the way.

Doubt we would get such positive vibes if we somehow may still be in with a shout towards the end of the season, albeit many may want anyone except City this year, just to make things more interesting.

Bias yes I agree. Maybe just how times have changed. Don’t remember anyone back in the day saying I hope that team A or team B don’t win the league. Certainly not players anyway.

In midfield Kante was fouling all potential trouble, yet he only received 3 yellow cards that season!!! That smile of his got him out of a lot of trouble.

I'm not going to say there was a conspiracy by the league, but it could be argued that the refs got caught up in the "cinderella story" as well.

With regard to refs it is a thing. Who was the ref who reffed the Man City 'Agueeeerrrrrrooooo'! Match? He was being interviewed the other day saying if Aguero had been on his second yellow card when he scored that goal and took his shirt off he wouldn't have sent him off and would have 'taken one on the chin'. It's not his job to 'take one on the chin' and use personal feelings in a game or preference for a player or situation, it's his job to play by the laws of the game. Maybe I'm being too 'by the book', but that's the idea, isn't it?
