I think Merson comfortably occupies the middle of that Venn diagram.I said all along that anyone stating we were a mid-table team or bottom-half team without Kane is either trying to wind Spurs fans up or hasn't a clue what they were talking about.
Lol you totally confused me All good.
Sorry, you've lost me. It's a joke and this is the thread for what pundits say about us.
Self respect? I'm not Paul Merson, just to be clear.
We would have finished 3rd/4th last season if we had a competent manager or Bentacur was fitI said all along that anyone stating we were a mid-table team or bottom-half team without Kane is either trying to wind Spurs fans up or hasn't a clue what they were talking about.
I've met Merse a few times and he's a bloody lovely bloke. He talks a load of shite on Sky and in his columns but he's a genuinely nice guy who has loads of time for people. The fact he said we wouldn't finish top half and now he's unsure if we will finish top 4 is humorous, but he's never going to be overly complimentary of us.Tottenham coping admirably without Harry Kane, while Mikel Arteta complicates things for 'predictable' Arsenal, says Paul Merson
Paul Merson also discusses Chelseas bright start under Mauricio Pochettino, Arsenals reversion to old habits, and how Liverpool are capable of outscoring any team in the Premier League - including Manchester Citywww.skysports.com
If you think about that for a while you realise Ardiles was on his first managerial job where Postecoglu has been doing it for 28 years.I was really worried about us going full Ardiles, but Postecoglou seems a wise chap. I'm sure we'll get exposed a few times against the better sides (and we were a couple of times against United), but it seems a good balance.
Call me Mr Pedantic but Ossie managed Swindon, Newcastle and West Brom before us.If you think about that for a while you realise Ardiles was on his first managerial job where Postecoglu has been doing it for 28 years.
Bound to make a difference.
Joking aside I think us fans probably don't realise how much that matters, that's a huge amount of experience.

Have to admit he came across as a nice guy on a TV programme he did fairly recently. BBC 4 Paul Merson: A walk through my life. Talked a lot about his addictions etc whilst filming himself going for a hike in YorkshireI've met Merse a few times and he's a bloody lovely bloke. Personally, I really like Merson despite his Arsenal connections. I think he's hilarious and he can take the piss out of himself.I've met Merse a few times and he's a bloody lovely bloke. I disagree. If I was a pundit I’d try to do my job as a pundit.Personally, I really like Merson despite his Arsenal connections. I think he's hilarious and he can take the piss out of himself.
I don't take many of his opinions seriously especially about us. He was a Chelsea fan as a kid and had his career at Woolwich so he's bound to hate us and I'm okay with that - that's what football is about. If any of us were paid to talk about Woolwich, we'd be similarly biased.
Ian Wright is another ex-Gooner I quite like. Obviously, when it comes to football, I "hate" them both but they do seem like decent blokes.
Fair enough. I get that point of view. But I quite enjoyed watching the likes of Phil Thompson suffer when Liverpool conceded goals coz you know he's feeling what we feel when Spurs concede. Or Jeff Stelling with Hartlepool.I disagree. If I was a pundit I’d try to do my job as a pundit.
It’s part of having self respect.
There’s showing allegiance and just being a biased dick.Fair enough. I get that point of view. But I quite enjoyed watching the likes of Phil Thompson suffer when Liverpool conceded goals coz you know he's feeling what we feel when Spurs concede. Or Jeff Stelling with Hartlepool.
You have to say, even the widely accepted good pundits like Neville, Carragher, Souness, Keane - they all allow their allegiances to influence their analysis to varying degrees. I'd find it impossible to analyse Spurs the same way I'd analyse Woolwich or Chelsea.
Apparently he is a massive Chelsea fan. There’s showing allegiance and just being a biased dick.
If he supports Arsenal, fine. But making out they’re brilliant and everything Spurs is rubbish is just childish.
It’s the way we lost it too. That handball made it feel cheated. I will forever hate Mane, as clever as that was of him. 100% intentionalNope. Losing that final is easily my worst ever footballing experience. By miles.
