Just saw a bit from Jim white on talksport captioned are Tottenham closing the gap on Arsenal?
I don't remember him asking that question the other way round the previous season after we'd finished above them for the last five years but they finish above us one season and he comes out with that crap.

It’s also a stupid question even if you accept the premise. I’m happy to bet jim white or anyone else that we don’t finish 24 points behind them this year

This season is a good barometer of which pundits actually watch the games and which ones just go with the flow and follow the wider media narrative (most of them).

Anybody talking about us being gung-ho / kamikaze / leaving ourselves exposed clearly aren't watching our games. We're not blindly throwing people forward to overload the attack (Ardiles style) it's a far more cohesive system where players are trusted to cover for each other with lots of movement.

It's about as far removed from the Jose/Conte systems as you can get where each player had their own defined roles and couldn't budge away from that. They're now trusted to express themselves and get creative knowing that they've all got each others backs and won't be called out for taking a risky option (stupid options yes but creative ones are encouraged).

Ian Wright on #Tottenham after the North London Derby:

“They’re impressive. James Maddison symbolizes Spurs. They have a fresh, young, cocky naïveté about them. Yes, it’s beautiful.

They’ve got players that can scare you… Udogie, Vicario, Van de Ven looks very accomplished. Sarr, Bissouma, Son, you can feel this team, they’re together and they know that they can play.

If I’m Tottenham, I’m feeling pretty good. We [Arsenal] feel like we’re going to have to keep an eye on them. As hard as it is for me to say, I think they’re on their way with what they’re doing.”

Copied and pasted ^ no idea why they went for the French spelling of naivety. It’s how I imagine Cartman saying it.

Excellent breakdown by Tifo as per usual.

By the way, the lad in the left did a great slap down on Twittwr of that weird 'AI' 'tactical guru' about predicting aspects in football.

It was pretty much nail on the head with these people.

Yet people still came to the odd balls defence

Do you think we should at this stage? I'm still of the opinion that things have started well but I'm still very aware that there will be some downs in our future and I need to see how we react to them. Right now we are riding that new manager bounce, and the players having the weight of the world lifted off them. Now I'm not saying that bubble will burst but it might.

As Ange keeps telling us there is no quick fix, and the end goal will take time and patience. I'd rather the media and pundits didn't put that pressure back on in all honesty.
100% not getting carried away with it all, at the moment just happy we are playing some decent football and working hard as a team!

after last year, that’s all I wanted to see

Wrighty just gets it. All the garbage that Merson, Keown and Co come out just alligns them with the bellend supporters who just enjoy talking utter shite. Wrighty is honest and as unbiased as you could hope for and because of that he appeals to 1000x as many football fans than the other 2.

Still loves the banter but holds his hands up when he knows he is/was wrong - which is admirable and great to see

He's an honest, level headed, respectful guy, who speaks thoughtfully and intelligently. I've got a lot of respect for him.

A pundit or commentator who's dishonest loses credibility quickly. If it means criticising their old team or praising their closest rivals, that's what they need to do. They have to tell things as they are, not as they'd like them to be.

Couldn't agree more. Mainstream broadcasters should aim for impartiality and insight. Talksport can keep all of the numpty wind up muppets for their desperate, contrived audience grabbing rubbish.

He didn't have much credibility to begin with but Keown really threw all that away when he did that total Arsenal 11 in his NLD combined starting 11 pick as if he was going to battle with them.

Bad enough.

But then we beat them 3-0 and he wouldn't back down.

Now anything that comes out of his mouth on Spurs or Arsenal is given no serious attention.

Funny thing is, he genuinely believes he is an intellect, yet can't see how doing that has damaged his credibility as a pundit.

Thinks he's intellectual but is in fact, a cretin. Average player turned gobby pundit.

I mean I agree I don’t think we are title challengers. But to cite our bench options as a reason for this is poor given the amount of injuries we have at the moment. I mean arguably our best midfielder is still to come back plus the likes of Johnson, Perisic and Le Celso. I do think we will address the centreback shortage in January.
