I really want to believe he says this stuff to get a reaction, but I am starting to think he genuinely believes what he is saying.

Wow, Merson has literally pulled every 'Spurs are top BUT......' excuse out for that article.

Would love to see what he wrote about Arsenal at a similar time last year. Got just a feeling it won't have been so negative.

I don't think Merson should even be posted in here, he hardly counts as a 'pundit' the guy is clueless and biased, seems like a decent bloke but every opinion of his will always be that Spurs are rubbish and are going to lose every match so what's the point in even posting it.

Completely wrong as usual, more like Chelsea will have a go at us therefore making it better for us. They're not going to play 5-5-0

There seem to be so many *pundits* that allow their bare faced bias to explode into the professional realm, its such a joke.

Merson is a like a child who doesn’t understand the difference between good attention and bad attention.

He realises that all he needs to do is take groundless, extreme positions to get headlines. Whether he’s right or wrong (more the latter usually) is irrelevant. At least he’s in the public eye.

He doesn’t realise he looks like a tool.

Ultimately, occasionally he’s right. Chlesea might win.

But the statement itself is idiotic. Of course it’s not that binary

That’s possibly the most Merson article ever - which isn’t a compliment. It’s an entertaining read though.

The bit where he says even last season we weren’t expected to beat Chelsea seems to completely understate just how dysfunctional Chelsea were at that point last season - they couldn’t buy a win!

Tbf our last two performances haven't been great. Chelsea have a decent buildup and good players, they just can't put the ball in the back of the net.

Are people still getting annoyed at what Paul Merson says? Just ignore him.
It's tedious horseshit, both from Merson and the people who get 'annoyed' by what he says. It'd be a lot more understandable if there was anyone on here who posted opinions and articles that everyone agreed with all the time and at the same time was bias free. But there isn't, so the irony is dripping like the clunge of an Elephant in heat.

ewwww

As much a clown as Sutton, who strikes me as a compete pillock.
Starts by saying Spurs will win 2-0 before quickly covering himself by saying Chelsea are likely to win, too.... before jumping in at the end to mention he played for Chelsea 😴

This pearler did make me laugh though;

"They've been to Arsenal and got a 2-2 draw but let's be honest, if Gabriel Jesus scores when James Maddison gives the ball away I think Arsenal go and win that game by four or five."

*facepalm
