FIFA were even handed a get out of jail free card when Qatar went "whoopsie, we can't host a summer tournament as agreed in the contract, we're going to have to move it OK sorry bye". That was their chance to stop the madness by arguing breach of contract, and yet they did nothing.

...and as a result, the next domestic season for the whole of Europe is going to have to be severely disrupted, so we can get the next World Cup underway next winter.

I think we need to be careful with overuse of VAR but I see where you're coming from.

Something I've always been suspicious of is when a 'keeper goes for a long ball (from his hands). So often in almost creating they've travelled outside of the box before actually letting go of the ball.
It could be given as a corner but actually a goal kick and a goal goes in. Same with throw ins. Wouldn't (or shouldn't) take long to review it (less than offsides).

Defending players who run into the back of the player (who is going nowhere with the ball), pushing him over and then being shocked when they concede a free kick.

Sissoko was probably the most guilty culprit, but it happens all of the fucking time and I just don't understand how players haven't learned to stop pushing players in the back. Really winds me up.
I think sometimes they get caught out with the clever play of the opposition player, who only has to slow down their run slightly to get pushed over and get the foul.

On the time wasting theme, goalkeepers who take ages over goal kicks from about the 5th minute, wiping gloves, taking drinks, etc. Just book them after the first warning and get on with the game. Too many culprits to name,

This whole Mythology that’s building up about Hale end like it’s the Masai. Who have they actually produced in a decade that you could really say is a success ? Ok now got Saka and ESR but both are still potential. It’s just nauseating ?

Yeah tbh it doesn't bother me that much when its the last few minutes, that's just human nature.
But as you say when its a team that would clearly be happy with a point, and its happening from the very start its fucking annoying.

Opposition players standing in front of players taking free kicks in midfield which forces the kicker to pass back or sideways. It’s meant to penalise the opposition not give them a benefit them. The refs always ignore it.

The constant need for commentators, pundits and journalists to refer to people by their nationality, as if it’s their defining feature.

“The Portuguese” “The Spaniard” “The Brazilian.”

Why do they feel the need to do it?

It pisses me off when a player is subbed off and slowly walks, then when the ref tries to hurry him up, they break into that stupid half jog that’s actually slower than actually walking.

Not really grinding. But I’ve gone backwards and forwards on Alex Scott ( that sounds wrong ?) hated her liked her just watched her on football focus first time absolutely shocking. It’s really an insult to people like Chappers and Gabby Logan that she got a gig like this.

And it's liiiiiive.

Also, broadcaster social media accounts trying to be banter accounts. @OptusSport (the Aussie rights holder) is my prime example.

The long delay between an offside and the flag going up.

Martin Tyler, the mumbling king of pointless trivia. Mind you, he's got some very close rivals for that title!

Oh for the option of watching and listening to a match without these pointless people talking over it, telling us how much time is left when we can see for ourselves on the screen, telling us who a certain player's father was and who he played for in 1974 and God knows what other nonsense....mental drivel.

We know who the players are because they've all got their names and numbers on their backs so we don't need telling thank you very much!

Yeah the option to turn off the commentary would be a Godsend.
Would also give Sky a good idea of just how much people hate that shite drivel.
Remember when commentating on a game was just that, commentate on the fkin game!
Went to game yesterday but watched bit of it on tv tonight. See we had that fktard Alan Smith again.
So Liverpool get Carragher, Man U get Neville, and we keep getting a twat who played for our biggest rivals. Thanks a smegging bunch Sky.

I wonder if they realise just how long ago their references are! Even something relatively fresh in the memory like the 1998 World Cup, for example, is a long time ago now in football terms.

Jim Beglin goes on and on about games he played in for Liverpool against whoever the teams playing in 2021. He was a Liverpool player from 1983-1989.

Did commentary in the 80s reference games from the 40s and 50s?
