Apologies if this is bad thread.

I thought we would beat arsenal for that 4th place but they appear better with ozil.

I personally believe man u are in trouble for top 4.

It is early but any thoughts. If we beat chelsea, we are on the right track.

I'm more confident this season we have the mentality to not lose to the guys who were below us last year. that itself is a massive improvement.

I still think United and City will be pretty strong this year, other than managerial changes they are the same teams as last year and the ones to top - barring any major mismanagement, I still think they'll be up there.

Hate to say it but Chelsea will always be a tough prospect, given the horrible tactics JM employs there, they'll grind out points all season.

For me, we still need to aim amongst this lot and it's still between us and the scum on paper for 4th IMO.

I hope we can do better though and I think we have the squad to - need confidence and momentum to do it though.

for me. I think we will battle chelsea for 2nd, and Man U will battle Arse for 4th.

I may change this view at any time.

I could see United being on the outside looking in. They just don't seem to have what they had all those years under SAF.

We beat all nineteen other EPL teams!

By the way I suspect if we looked at all the league games played so far in the current calendar year, 2013 of course, that Arse would be top and we may be second

Man u have 2 stars in rvp and rooney. Their midfield looks bad and their defence is quite old. Add a new manager and I think they are in trouble.

Our midfield is our strength this year. I would say nearly best in league.

On paper, Man City are by far the best team in the league. And, I think Pellegrini has his shit together and won't screw it all up. I could see them becoming the new Manchester United given they will always bring in 50m worth of players to add to their squad. And, with a squad that's got that much talent in every position, it's just a matter of Pellegrini rotating effectively.

reminds me of the old sky interview with Roy Evans manager of Liverpool, he actually got asked "do you think you'll have to finish above united to win the league, he looked at him and said we have to finish above everybody to win the league" mugged him right off.:)

The way we are beginning to play we can beat any of the so called top four. Yes we dropped points against Arse anal, and we'll drop a few more during the season, but this is our year to be top dog.

I truly think United will miss out, I do not think he has Ferguson's boys under control. He needs time to bring in his old players and do his own thing. There will be a changing of the guard there over the next year or so.

I think Arsenal will drop points due to their depth problems and lack of defensive discipline (and keeping). The January window will be extremely important to them, as they could improve easily.

I think Chelsea will start off rough and get it going around November, then Mourinho will get more money to spend in January, when he will fix all of his problems.

City look to be the best squad on their day. They seem to have started to get rolling (after the United win). I see them cruising to the top pretty soon.

Who knows?

Chelsea haven't been all that for the last two seasons and too much weight has been placed on the return of Mourinho. His signings have been uninspired. Looks like Mata is being frozen out and they don't have a world class striker.

United have two world class strikers in Rooney and RVP but beyond those two their squad is heavily flawed, especially in defence. It's early days but Moyes seems well out of his depth. Fergie was an absolute titan of a manager and him leaving is a massive blow.

City will finish top 4. They have the strongest squad in the league.

Arsenal look strong now but a couple of injuries and their paper thin squad will become exposed.

Agree with this verbatim.

I think United will be the team from last season's top four to drop out, and I made that prediction before the season started. SAF contributed heavily to a winning mentality in that team, and without his presence they just don't have the talent at the moment (don't have the midfield, specifically) to stay at the top. Granted they've had a tough opening schedule, but I think they'll struggle through this semester, get their lad from Bilbao and maybe a few others, and then get it going by about February but it'll be too little too late.

People keep talking about our lack of goals, but one very important stat that isn't being discussed is Man U have failed to score from open play in the league since taking down Swansea on opening day. I thought their win over Bayer Leverkusen was impressive, but other than that I just don't think they're very good.
