When someone calls you a racist on more than one occasion I think responding with 'what a wally you are' is quite mild in comparison?

Just nudging the conversation back in the right direction before we go too far down that road. Prevention being better than cure and all that.

We wont change our chant. No matter what happens, we'll always be Tottenham from the Lane.

There'll be no need to get a season ticket - we'll only ever sell 80,000 tickets for Ar5ena1 at home.

Other downsides include having to have a drink in some poncy bar instead of a good old fashioned spit and sawdust pub.

Having to queue up for an hour after the game to take advantage of the wonderful transport options, instead of walking for twenty minutes and being able to get on straight away.

Having to learn a whole lot of new chants, as any reference to WHL will be defunct.

Dodging bandits every time you go to the game.

The eventual realisation that the East End derby will replace the North London derby as the most important fixture on the fixture list.

100% behind everything that isn't in bold. But... :eh:

fella i think its pretty obvious that they want a top club in that facility & west ham justarent their preffered option....if we want it then we will get it im afraid

If Levy wants it, we'll get it would be a more accurate phrase. He will never get everyone on board for this one. I can already imagine the 703 club regulars starting a campaign against it.

West Ham's bid is the only one that adheres to the spirit of what the Olympic bid was all about. Sadly, if the IOC are even willing to forget about the promises that were made, it does start to worry me that this will be our fate.

I can see the benefits of moving to Stratford in terms of wider development and better transport links. The transport links to White Hart Lane are shockingly bad for a Premier League football club of our size.

- On a side note I overheard one of the TFL rail replacement staff saying the other day that they don't do rail replacement when Arsenal are at home but it's ok to do it to us because there's less of us. I know that that's factually accurate but it still made me angry.

Back to moving. I think if we did move I would probably give up my season ticket. To me I think it would be the biggest marker that football is no longer the sport I fell in love with and that my club has now embraced the new culture of big money, big business, big brand. I can see why that may be necessary, but I don't have to like it. I would probably still go to a few games a season and I wouldn't stop supporting or watching us.

Moving to Stratford would make me feel that the regular match-going fans are no longer that important to the success of the club. The Death of the Twelfth Man if you like.

Just recalling trying to get on the tube at Wembley after a game compared to after a game at WHL.

Yes, the tube may be on our doorstep, but you still end up spending the same amount of time queueing as you would do walking to the tube and getting straight on it.

Unless of course you wanted to let the crush die down and find somewhere to have a nice white wine spritzer whilst marvelling at the big red Arecelor Mittal sculpture.

The running track could be located in the empty white hart lane :eek:mg: as part of the deal .
these could use it on a regular basis ,just a thought http://www.ehac.co.uk/clubdetails.php

size would be ideal for the national stadium

One thing I read today, which concerned me, is one of the IOC inspectors said yesterday that the Olympic site did not need to retain a running track, as long as a facility was created somewhere else.[/quote]

I walked to Seven Sisters after the Sunderland game and was locked out because of the crowd. And that's one of the few times when the lines have been running properly. Transport links have been a pain in the jacksy. Stratford would probably be better for that IMO, although it wouldn't be enough for me to want to move.

I am glad the sculpture isn't black.

We are Tott-nam, super Tott-nam, from the generic, bowl design.

If we're going to move we should move to Tottenham Court Road. There's a building site there all ready for us. Pre-match drinks in The Tottenham. Job done.

That's a bit unfair considering it has a nice kop stand and the one end

I just wonder how much of our design will be incorporated into a re-development of the Olympic site. My suspicion is that we would have to compromise, particularly if we remove the running track, and that the kop stand would be one of the first things to go. Not based on fact, just my suspicious nature, but I can definitely envisage us ending up with a much weaker stadium in terms of individuality and atmosphere.

Being able to the leave the club and being in my seat in less than 10 mins is something that I would really miss if we moved to Stratford. We would all have to find new bars to meet before the game and how far would they be from the stadium? It just wouldn't be the same for me.

There would be dozens of bars in and around the area, there's so much money to be made from pubs around a 70/80k football stadium.

There would probably be more pubs around the OS than there are near White Heart Lane now.

Plus there would be a lot more fans, and as such a lot more fans drinking all of which you can mingle and banter with the very same way you do currently.

Soon enough you would get used to your new surroundings in the pub you choose for your own and seeing the same faces week in week out sharing the passions of victory and defeat would soon make it home.

Look at Wembley games, when you find the designated SPurs pub before kick off it is the same as any other spurs game (except of course for the heighted passion envolved in a semi or final match)

Skimming this thread, the prevailing opinion amongst SCers seems to be Tottenham is a shithole. It's either Tottenham is a shithole so let's get the f*ck out of it and go to Stratford (which may or may not be a shithole when we get there) or Tottenham is a shithole, but it's our shithole, so let's give it some love anyway.

I'm kindof puzzled by this. It seems to me it is (and always has been in the 30 odd years I've known it) a pretty average somewhat run-down working class area. The kind of place where the majority of football stadiums have traditionally been located, for obvious reasons. I can't see the problem - do people feel the need to sit on leather sofas sipping cappuccinos or pop into the local branch of Luis Vuitton as part of their pre-match experience? What's wrong with the local pubs? - they're nothing special, but they're probably better than the corporate identikit alternatives. And the local food? - bog standard chicken/burger type outlets plus some really good Turkish places. Again, would people prefer endless Burger Kings Pizza Huts and KFCs? or are they looking for some kind of high class Michelin-starred dining experience? I go to Spurs to watch football, personally. All I need beyond that is somewhere to get a quick bite to eat and a drink amongst fellow fans. What's the big deal?

And as for the 'it's so difficult to get to' argument - what's wrong with a stroll along the Seven Sisters Road or a mile or two stroll from your car, in the company of a bunch of like-minded Spurs fans gradually cranking up the atmosphere as you get to the ground. I can't say I worry too much about that minor inconvenience. If you want convenient, you just stay at home and watch it on Sky or down your comfy local. What's the beef with Tottenham (the place)?
