He'd be a great upgrade on Moura, but there's zero chance of us paying anything close to what Palace want. And they know that without him they're likely going down sooner rather than later.

He is but he'd be pretty good though wouldn't he

Yeah he's obviously better than Moura but we have far more pressing issues at the moment. We spent 100m in the summer and now have no midfield and an aging defence. We only have so much money, imo we shouldn't be going after an overpriced attacking midfielder.

Oh yeah absolutely. We need other areas addressed before attacking options but still, he would be nice

He's never cracked 10 assists in a season, I think we need a forward more in the ziyech mould now that Eriksen is done. Creativity+goals combined

We're seeing the need with moura starting alot, there's a huge lack of creativity

Sorry don’t rate him. Spends far too much time moaning to the ref about the opposition tackling him not just the fouls. Compare him to Hazzard who got fouled just as much as Zaha but didn’t waste time meaning to the ref he just used get up, brush himself off and get on with it. I always feel Zaha lacks the character necessary to be a top player in atop team. Also his goals and assists stats are not anything special. Not worth the money.

Ziyech is a much more effective player than Zaha. Zaha has very little end product but fun to watch on the ball.

I’m sorry but I don’t buy the argument that his goals and assists output isn’t good enough. He plays for crystal bloody palace! One of the constantly lowest scoring teams in the premier league, were he is double teamed every time he touches the ball.
You can’t compare him to Hazard who plays with world class players around him or Ziyech who plays in team who dominates in a second tier league every year (Ajax 119 goals last year, Palace 51).
I wouldn’t pay 80m for him, but i would snap their hand off for 50m for a player who would be an instant upgrade on Lamela and Lucas

Feels like this is a ploy to flush out chelsea and drive up the price

Zahavi is an Israeli who has known Abramovich since 1998, and was instrumental in building the squad nearly 20 years ago - he's probably the one who leaked the story!

It's been reported by various sources that Zahavi and Levy have an extremely good relationship

I think Zaha would be a good signing, he’s an upgrade on Lucas but would be typical Spurs if this meant we’re not looking at a defensive midfielder and a right back.

Also agree with the Ziyech shouts - I don’t understand why we (or somebody else) haven’t gone in for him. There must be a reason which isn’t widely known.

I posted an article in the Athletic thread about Everton and transfers, which easily could be attributed to us. In it is the following paragraph and I can’t help but think it’s totally correct and should be applied to every signing you make. So where does Zaha fit into it? I think he’d join and coast, I don’t think it’s got the jump to the next level in him, Ziyech is already at that next level for me and if there was a choice between the two he’s who I would go for. But I think zaha is more Mourinho’s kind of player. Anyway, here’s the paragraph and it’s quoting one of our beloved :cautious: ex managers:

“During his time in charge at Arsenal, George Graham used to say that the key to building a team was to buy players who were on the way up — or, alternatively, players who were desperate to prove a point — but to avoid those who might see your club as a soft landing, a comfort zone. “Never buy a player who’s taking a step down to join you,” Graham said. “He will act as if he’s doing you a favour.”
