One issue not mentioned here is we have is that we may still be fighting on in cups which other teams don't have. So for example while we play Burnley then Man U, Stoke have no games and are in Dubai. Whilst there is an argument that playing games keeps the team going, there will be injuries and maybe we will see the players tiring at the end of games or losing concentration which is what happened against Newcastle and Wigan.

Apparently these are the latest odds froom one bookie

lifted from 606 - so I'm not vouching for their authenticity

West Bromwich Albion 4/11
Stoke City 4/11
Hull City 5/2
Sunderland 3/1
Portsmouth 3/1
Middlesbrough 3/1
Bolton Wanderers 10/3
Newcastle United 9/2
Blackburn Rovers 9/2
West Ham United 6/1
Tottenham Hotspur 8/1
Fulham 10/1
Wigan Athletic 25/1
Manchester City 33/1

obviously odds only reflect weight of money and bookie's opinion/position in the market

but it is interesting that hull for all their points are seen as strong relegation candidates

I think if West Ham beat them next time out (and oh how it hurts to want West Ham to win :)

then the tigers start looking toothless and possiblly drooping and a dropping

Looking at that fixture list, and the bookies odds, Im not confident and if I was a betting man and not a spurs fan, I'd consider having some money on us, and maybe a Newcastle, or even FUlham.

Its so tight I dont see hwo people can be so sure we wont get relegated. We shouldnt, and the chances are we will stay up, but the team has shown this season, and the last season, that they can lose out in battles.

On the flip side if we can go on a little run, beat Stoke, maybe even Bolton, suddenly we are pushing the top half. And then another loss and we are back down again. Its crazy

Said it once in this thread already.... We got 16 games left, 7 wins should keep us up. This time last season we were on 24 points with the same amount of games played, not to mention we only won 1 of our last 7 games last year.

It'll be tight, but we'll just (only just) do enough.

What worries me is that I still see people asking for Taraabt to play and people saying we could still get top 6 and people wanting Jol back and people bemoaning the fact that we need to sign fighters.

There's going to be a big increase in suicides and worryingly delusory behaviour in North London and amongst Spurs fans in general if we do go down.

We are still blaming everyone except ourselves!

I don't know if we'll stay up or not this year, I obviously hope we do.

I however don't agree with your assessment that more points will be needed to stay up. With so many teams on around the same points total I think this year will need less that the usual 40 points mark, I can't possibly see how more points could be needed (I could of course be proved wrong!). That I hope could be our saving grace, however we need to get back to winning ways in the league pretty sharpish.

I'm still very very nervous about the gk situ

we'll know a lot more on after tonight

but until I'm happy we've got gomes plus a decent back up can't relax about relegation one bit

I think if we are going to avoid it, we need to do so as early as possible, if it comes down to a fight over the last 4 or 5 games, West Brom, Stoke, Sunderland etc have all got more fight than us.

I think this week and next could be quite crucial though (isn't every week?). Looking at the fixtures, we've got Stoke at home, which yes I know we didn't last time but we really should be winning that one. Meanwhile, Boro have Chelsea I believe, and West Brom have Man Utd. In both cases I think it could be an oppurtunity to open a gap up and climb the table.

If we could then add points at Bolton we can jump a fair way, hopefully with other teams getting bad results. Either way if it comes down to the last three games, I wouln't fancy our chances.

Sadly still on for my 39 point prediction - a total that hardly fills me with confidence.

I'm so gutted at today. I really felt we could start to nip this in the bud early on and make a mockery of my predictions, but sadly not :-(

39 will probably keep us up. Some of the teams down there aren't going to pick up that many points.

We have to get out of the habit that we have to go and battle against these teams, especially away from home. Bolton, Blackburn, Wigan, Stoke, Hull, West Brom even Everton are so used to scrapping that they are always going to have an edge on us if we go in with that attitude. Our strength is our ability so we have to go and try and attack teams and take it to them and not settle for a draw away from home. Otherwis I will start fearing for our safety as well.

We need to show character, if the players think we are too good to go down we are finished.

Im more than worried to be honest. We shouldn't be in this mess and id hoped we would have given ourselves some breathing space by now. What also worries me is while we have by far the most talented and skillful players out of any of the bottom half of the table, unlike them we don't have players who know what a relegation battle is about and those teams around us are in those almost every season.

Hopefully we can play our way into safety because we definately don't have players that look like they want to fight their way out of it.

If we do it will be the skin of our teeth! Like today everytime we have had a chance to put some breathing space between us and the bottom 3 teams like today we blow it! Im so worried of us going down as can see us doing a leeds if we do go down!
