William Gallas signs 2 year contract extension

Like most, I am siurprised its two years instead of one. But he's been the signing of the season IMO (yes, VDV included), so it's deserved.

No, I think that our best player this season has been Modric, however Gallas has been massively important and an absolute rock for us at times (like at the emirates)

Committing for 2 more years without the guarantee of CL football shows loyalty to us lilywhites imo!

So? He's been quality so far this season, probably our best active CB. He'd have to really deteriorate rapidly for him to be useless in 2 years.

Don't get me wrong, it is great news, but I'm surprised it's a 2 year extension. As some people have mentioned, I don't think he'll be a regular starter come the 2012-13 season.

I have a feeling the two year deal might be converted into a player/coach contract for the 2012/13 season, and then he'll go into coaching full time in the summer of 2013.

No matter how much he plays, I think he'll be good to have around for two more years.
