With Johan Lange joining us as Technical Director, you'd think the chance of us going for Roony Bardghji from his former club FC Copenhagen to be more likely.

With us top and Bournemouth second from bottom I should imagine Kelly will be even keener to jump ship in January.
And if Jota is available for peanuts from Saudi it's a no-brainer.

Ideally, Bentancur comes back in and returns to his previous form so we can move PEH on to cover the costs.

Just think we have to be conscious that we might need a couple of big money purchases in the Summer to replace Richarlison and succession plan for Sonny.

Is Jota actually good though? He looks ok, but not much more than that from what I have seen and, after Solomon, I really don’t want to see us sign a player just because he’s ‘available for peanuts’. Especially if he takes up a non HG place.

No, he is not good enough IMO.

Obviously that's a call for Ange but I'm assuming if we're interested it's on his say so.

But, from my point of view, Gil appears to be nowhere near the starting eleven so someone who can do a job within Ange's system as a replacement for Bryan would make sense.

Hard to say that about Bryan. He's only just returned to training and so many players who looked way off it under Conte are thriving now.

He is a good player - he is fast, great at dribbling, can score and assist and most importantly knows Ange's system. Celtic fans absolutely loved him.

Yes he played in the Scottish league which isnt great but I think he would surprise people.

YEah exactly this. We really need a truly high quality ball carrier LW and if signing Jota prevents us from going for a Neto, a Mitoma etc do we really want to do that? I get Peri is done here, and Solomun is injured, but we have Gil still, so in theory next season well have 2 LW, we also started Johnson at LW and have started richie at LW twice.

A top winger I think really elevates us as a team, a proper ball carrying fast 1 v 1 specialist.

I would love Neto, but considering his contract is until 2027 I would be concerned how much Wolves would expect for him. Mendes client though so who knows what trading would be done.

Doubt he’ll be coming here. There will be bigger fish with far deeper pockets in for him.

I don't see why we would look to buy a cheap player for the LW spot. This is the first time in years when we've had a stong first XI and only have one obviously week spot. Yes, I know we have a squad depth issue, but I'm not sure we can realisitcally expect to sign top class, established players to strengthen our bench. If we look at the last 3 seasons for example, we spend about £150 million each year, but have effectively, had to buy an entire 1st XI with the exception of Son. So we've had to spread the money we have had to spend over 3 or 4 biggish signings. We simply couldn't afford to spend £100 million on one player, as we needed to buy 3 or 4 players each year. But that just isn't the case now. If you look at our starting team on Saturday, other than Richy, it's pretty damn hard for us to improve on those players and every sinlye one of them would be perfectly at home in any Prem team (not necessarily saying they'd start over the best City, Arsenal or Liverpool players, but just that if they did, they'd fit in fine.)

So if Wolves or Palace want silly money for Neto or Eze, I think we are in a position to pay it, while we wouldn't have been at any other time since Covid. I just hope that our previous experiences of paying big fees hasn't put Levy off and he can recognise just how poor the recrutiment was at that time. Paying such large sums for Lo Celso and NDombele can't be compared to buying top quality Prem players. And our preivous expensive Prem player purchases had obvious abiity question marks over them. We need another player who can boost us in the way Maddison has. Madders only cost £40 million because he had a year left on his deal. But there are other players out there, such as Neto, who could have the same sort of impact, but would cost more as they have more years left on their contract. We'd have to pay a premium to sign Eze in Jan, rather than wait for the summer. But in both cases, I think it's better to spend a large chunk of our budget on one of them, rather than trying to sign another good young player with potential. Our recruitment has been excellent, but football history shows that these runs of good signings always come to an abrupt end.

I guess you could also argue we need a striker, but top quality strikers are so few and far between and so many teams are successful without one, that it's probably not worth trying to recruit an established player there. So I think we should spend big on the LW spot and modest fees for a back up CB and only buy a CM if we sell a CM.

As much as I like Neto, he's under contract until 2027 and his agent is Mendes who's deceived us more than once in previous dealings.

Kelly would be good, IMO. Other than that I'll assume we'd be looking to see if someone good becomes available on a good deal, even if it's not someone in a position of need, but I'd be surprised if we get any more than him. Perhaps a young one like Nusa, or Marcos Leonardo as the Brazilian season ends soon?

2 things, Neto and Eze do not play lw as their natural position. I doubt we are going down the square peg round hole route.

I'm not sure why people get so obsessed with price. A lot were moaning that VDV and Viccario were the cheap options in the summer.
