I've been willing Argentina to sort themselves out all tournament, but it's just not going to happen.

Aguero is the one who should be in. Higuain is consistently shit for Argentina in important matches and Dybala and Messi would both admit they don't work well together. But Aguero not starting makes no sense.

I know Dybala and Messi have spoken about how they play in the same spaces. But what have Di Maria and Pavon contributed in this formation where Messi is an isolated 9 or maybe false 9? Who knows what position Messi is playing, but he has zero creativity or threat alongside him.

At least having Dybala out there, and Aguero, would make the French defenders genuinely worried. At the moment, they can get their cigars out as long as Messi or Banega don't have the ball.

Icardi was left out for non-football reasons though. Messi hates his guts because he pretty much stole the wife of one of Messi's best mates.
