Fazio has to play against Stoke - you don't buy a 6f 4" centre back and not play them against Stoke.
Adebayor should play in Greece - although it won't be a walkover, as they've got a good record there, he needs some easier opponents to score some goals and gain confidence.

With instructions to the attacking 5 that at least one or two of the have to attack the corners to stretch the defences to allow some space for the others to operate.

So sick of us looking so narrow, it really is not helping.

Won't happen in a million years, but for Stoke:

Chadli
Mason --- Kane --- Lamela

Eriksen --- Dembele (I reckon we don't need a classic DM)

Rose ------ Verts ------ Fazio ------ Davies

Lloris

I would gladely change some defensive players, but I don't think we have anyone in our own squad who could do a better job.
I'm not sure there is a need for a typical DM/ballwinner in modern football. Quick feet are as important as a big strong man.
I'm fairly confident all of those midfielders/attackers would put in a shift. To me, that's the most important thing right know.
Not sure if Chadli could fill the striker role, but think he has the attributes to do so. Would have put Kane in there, but from what I've seen he is playing better just behind the striker.
Dembele is also a question mark, but when he is on top of his game I believe he is one of our absolute best players. It's been a while though...

Also, as long as everyone works their socks off, I would choose the same team for weeks ahead.

Keep the same defence until someone earns their way in. Give Stambouli a league chance as Capoue offers as much protection and an out of date condom. Give Townsend a go in the league as he's at the very least tries to give opposition defenders a hard time. Restore Lamela for the league as he actually looks like making goals. Start Kane as, however they go in, he's actually scoring goals.

Nearly there, but let Younis have a reminder he's not undroppable by fielding him in Greece then deploy Dawzio against the Stokies, including to combat 2 metre Peter whom I'm sure will feature at some point.

The team against Stoke should be dependent to some degree on what happens against Asteras surely? And also the team Poch actually chooses to play against Asteras. Or is this meant to be a first draft and then we'll come and post different teams after Thursday?

Well, its funny because I'd play Capoe, Kaboul, Eriksen and Ade all against the Greeks now. A few weeks ago i'd have been resting at least three of them.

Tripolis:

Vorm

Naughton
Kaboul
Vertonghen
Davies

Capoue
Dembele

Townsend
Eriksen
Lennon

Adebayor

Stoke:

Lloris

Naughton
Fazio
Vertonghen
Rose

Stambouli
Mason

Lamela
Kane
Chadli

Soldado

Fazio and Crouch - a battle that could reach new heights!

Isn't the EL our best chance of getting in the CL now?

Not sure, possibly.

Third and fourth looks well open in the League if teams can put a run together though.

That's true I guess. It's just we don't look like being one of the teams likely to do it unfortunately!

At present yeah. Will require pretty swift and considerable improvement - and that's to do well in both competitions, as the Europa League will be a lot tougher when it restarts in February, Assuming we qualify.

I'm going to be very disappointed if this doesn't happen. It's not often you get the chance to see two Ents fighting it out on the pitch.

Really never understand where the suggestions about Chiriches as RB come from. They surfaced last season too, but it is a shot in the dark. He has, I believe, nigh ever actually played there, and there is no knowing how it would work out.

He's played there for Romania, although I have no idea how frequently and with what success...

Would probably stick in Capoue over Paulinho in the Asteras line up...but otherwise agree. Maybe have Stambouli covering Naughton more as Lamela will tend to drift inside in the Stoke line up. Would it be worth to chuck in Chiriches to save Naughton for Stoke? He has just come back from injury so don't want to burn him out. Dier was ill yesterday, but hopefully will be able to travel and play.
