Crouch would be an excellent signing, better the devil you know......

He works great with Defoe that alone is reason to sign him

He scored 13 with Pompy - he also played for England...........he might get 13 with Spurs this year.........but then again so would bent - also on assists, he only had 5 with Pompy last year........so no more he is a great assist player please...........

He also had 51 assist attempts, and if memory serves me right Berbatov didn't have too many more assists in 2006-2007.

Owen's a freebie on 20k a week, and he's has a lot to prove this season. No manager wanted to take the risk with him because he's a sick note. If he wasn't perennially injured do you really think only Hull and Stoke would be in for him. It's similar to the lack of interest in Robben.
Crouch isn't a sick note yet no top clubs want him. He'll cost 12 mil, and is on 60k a week. Crouch will be nothing more than average imo.

AY I hear what you are saying but I'm not convinced

Quick question

Who would score more goals next season

Bent @ Sunderland
or
Crouch @ Spurs?

I know where my money is

Not an improvement on Bent IMHO and yes I would love someone like Young but we all know how good Crouch is in the air so is there much point?

The question should then be:

Who will score more goals:

Bent @ Spurs
or
Crouch @ Spurs

My money would be that they would come out about even, but that Crouch would provide a lot more assists and be a better to asset to our team.

Darren Bent may well score 25 goals next season at Sunderland, but he won't replicate that if he stays at Spurs.

It's about getting players that fit your system.

It's also about getting players that work well together, both Keane and Berabatov made an excellent partnership together, but when split up last season both underperformed.

Crouch and Defoe work well together.

Fulham might of finished above us but does anyone actully think a player would pick them over us, all things being equal.

I'm not denying Crouch might be an effective player for Spurs, I just think if Harry stuck his neck out we could "potentially" get a better player. Admittedley we could also ens up with a Benjanji or Nuggent

If they get guaranteed first team football, yes.

Europe, pratically guaranteed first team football, less fans that demand Messi type signings, yes, yes I do.

More to the point, United appear to have decided Owen, despite the risks involved, is a better bet than 'potentially world class' Huntelaar (I'm assuming he is one of the players you mean).

He won't if Pompey go into Administration in the next 2 days, more like £7.5 million.

Well now the take over at pompey is complete why are they still trying to sell Crouch? If he was that good of a player:
a) he would still be at pool
b) pompey would keep him as the new dude got some cash
c) he would have been our first signing

It makes no sense at all :bang:

Unlike the others i will welcome the Crouch to the lane with open arms:clap:
Ditto. He'll be more useful for us than Huntelaar, who wouldn't have been able to play with Keane or Defoe effectively, whereas we know Crouch and Defoe works and Crouch and Keane is almost nailed on to do the same.

reports say that portsmouth now have a billionaire owner. Would this affect the crouch transfer?

monetarily it's a very good deal, and if it works out fantastic, BUT if Owen follows form and is injured for a large part of the season, then I cansee Old red nose paying an extortionate amout of money in Janurary for a proven striker from the continent.
