and if he's what offered we shouldn't buy at all.

He won't improve Tottenham Hotspurs, it's a farce just thinking about it

He'll improve the whole team and how we play, we will now have a target man capable of winning the ball up top, something we wern't particularly good at recently. There will be more options for Harry now, mix things up a bit and not be one dimensional. He will bring Defoe and Keane into play far more than Bent or Pavlyuchenko would IMO.

We'd like a big name signing from abroad because it's the in thing at present but if you wanna look at whats best for Tottenham and the team then Crouch has to be that guy at the moment, but we are all entitled to our own opinions at the end of the day.

am i the only one that actually sees this as a positive?

ok its not your football manager classy signing that we all would prefer but hes a solid premiership proven striker, who has allready proven that he can form a partnership with defoe, im actually impressed that if this does go through then we are actually improving the squad with what we need instead of trying to cram in players that dont fit into the team

plus he has got excellent feet for a big man

The way I see it, its positive if its just a case of him signing but negative if he is a replacement for what we already have as I don't think hes better than any of the strikers we have (and that includes GDS!)

No, I agree (as I've written before).

He might not be 'better' in a purely technical sense than Bent and Pav but he offers us something different and gives us a lot more options. Plus we know he works well with Defoe. And lets not forget that he scored 16 goals in all competitions for Pompey last season (41 games). Far from a bad return.

Honestly, some people would have you believe he was a skinnier version of Rasiak. It's just pathetic.

He will offer more to us than Pavlyuchenko

Does anyone know if Crouchy has a middle name? cos whenever i think about this potential signing i keep saying/thinking Peter Fuc*ing Crouch.

Funny if that is his name, if not he'd better get used to it!

he's a novelty act at best to be paraded and laughed at on special occasions (perhaps now bar mitzvahs)

yes he has good close control, and quite a good technique but his movement into position and around quick defenders is painfully slow. Hudd will be beaming if we sign him, "yay, someone i can beat in a sprint!"

a poor man's Rasiak is harsh though... He is a tall man's Rasiak.

I can't believe how childish people are being about this guy. He's played well for England, Liverpool, Pompey and Southampton for five straight seasons now. And people STILL think he's shit because he didn't make the grade with us. Unbelievable.

I have several Scouser mates who are gutted they got rid of Crouch and would have him back in a heartbeat if he was willing to be Torres' understudy.

I have never not supported anyone in a Spurs shirt, and i have wanted plenty not to sign...

been proved right on most occasions too ;)

with the turn around in modern players now though we could have a completely new front line by Christmas, but if Harry is wrong here we may have a new manager soon as well.

I would be happier if he was coming in as Pav's understudy to offer somethhing a liitle different.

But the teams he has played for have never been footballing sides, Liverpool play a Power game reliant on pace out wide and through the middle with forcful running, not much is passed through the middle.

With The hudd and Luka pulling the strings with neat passes and clever movement not sure how he would fit in with that style, unless Bentley is going to hang around and we play Lennon on the left in a more direct formation...

The same Peter Crouch who is technically gifted, and can link well with the smaller, more nimble, skilful players. Like he's done with JD at Portsmouth and England, and linking the play with the likes of Walcott, SWP, Joe Cole at International Level.

What an overated aberration this bloke is, Let's hope a big club comes in and offers him bigger wages than ourselves, But if a club with any sort of ambition comes in for Crouch I'd be very suprised.

i don't consider any of those to be footballers (or am i missing the great play of the England team...) possibly joe cole but he too is just a show pony. i'm talking about someone who can contribute to the play not just connect the dots and knock things down or pass the way your facing stuff, we've got bent for that, and he can also run.
