I'm not really bothered which of our striker(s) go but we do need change things in that department.

I'd be very pleased to get what we paid for Crouch back. £10m cash sounds a great deal. I don't dislike him, but I don't think he complements our side/other forwards at all.

I don't think we'll sell until a replacement is in (especially this close to the start of the season), so if the wheels are turning on Crouch's move to Liverpool, I'm hopeful that our new #9 is about to role in.

My only hope is that it's none of Jones, Cole, RSC or Heskey!

I hope we hold onto GDS. I think keeping him and playing him would be as good as signing Cole would have been potentially.

I'd be very pleased if things turned out like Ben's ITK, i.e. Bellamy, Richards and Young not coming to us and us getting a good fee from Villla for Keane to invest in another forward.

So would I, but if those players were our 1st options, it doesn't say much for who our backup options would be.

SS57 hasn't it been said that Keane is staying? I understood that was the case is it not?

Seconded, the thread Nazi's need to check the ITK first please.

Jeebus Christ, a post i agree with, good to see your back in the game Dan.

I actually think those players were probably our back-up options. Nice safe bets that we can fall back on towards the end of the window if other options don't pan out. Or maybe i'b being optimistic and our back up option for up front is Marlon Harewood Eek

Smokeydyid on SO regarding Yannick Djalo :

We have 100% held talks with him, as have newcastle. This is coming from someone who works with me who i know for sure is friends with yannick Djalo. It seems that it is not the player himself who will decide where he goes, but his agent. This is what Yannick Djalo told this someone who works with me yesterday on the phone. Now i know for sure they are friends but dont know if the info i recieved is 100%

I can't really believe so many people don't want Crouch to leave. Yes as a player on his own I like him, but didn't you all see the absolutely horrible Bolton-esq route one football we play when he is in the team ?

No.

No we didn't all see that. A lot of us saw the games against Wigan (h), West Ham (h), Man City (h & a), Blackburn (a), Stoke (a), Birmingham (h), Portsmouth (h) to name a few, where we used an open mind rather than listening to people watching on a dodgy stream in a different country about how we played this supposed 'long ball'.

And mill1ion, I agree with 90% of the things you say, but come on, it's a mythical nonsense that we played 'great football' with Defoe and Pav up front. We played 'effective football', barring the Chelsea game which was very good. For all the rubbish that is spouted, Pav and Defoe are quite possible our worst 'partnership' up front, as neither plays as a partner and both feed off chances created for them, while creating fuck all for the other one. Even the Everton game at home when Pav scored, it was a mishit shot from Defoe that fell into his path rather than a cross!

If signing Djalo prevents Newcastle from getting him, then i'm all for it. I love when we get their targets.

It certainly sounds like we have options bubbling for the likes of Remy/Djalo/Bellamy.

Well Newcastle have seemingly wrapped up a deal for Ben Arfa on loan for the season.

Also, Villa ITK's saying that Robbie Keane is digging his heels in and wants to stay at Spurs until someone tells him differently.

Which is what he said in the Irish Independent.

The way i see it crouch is a good player i like him but hes no un-replaceable for example we could replace him with any of these and they could do the same or if not a better job. Even if we changed or style of target men players e.g we could have somebody like jo who is a good player

Best Targets
Cardozo
Milevskyi
Gomez
Kiessling
Adebayor
Gignac

Second Tier Targets
Kenwyne Jones
Carlton Cole
Klass Jan Huntelaar
Ynaick Djalo
Djbrill Cisse
Jo

Desperation
Heskey
K.Davies
A.Carrol
G.Sammaras

See theres plenty of players in the similar level of crouchie

There are times when we play a form of route 1 football with Crouch. But, once again, this is not Crouch's doing. Like all teams, we have good technical passers and poor ones. Dawson, for instance, has less than stellar distribution skills, but hey not every defender can be Pique. And you wouldn't discount him from his role for that part of his game. Dawson is part of this group of weak passers that will look to Crouch because it is the easy answer. You don't see Modric and Huddlestone lumping it to Crouch all that often. So it is not Crouch's fault.

And before you argue that this doesn't change the fact that it happens, ask yourself why our coaching staff isn't helping these weak passers make better choices. And maybe they are but it takes time to teach better habits. Not sure.

We are a better side with Crouch, even if he's a supersub, than we are without. But yes, a little tweaking from the coaching staff with the weaker passers wouldn't hurt if we could keep him.

Ben arfa to newcastle on loan? what the hell happend to him

Djalo looks orite though wouldnt mind him some pace upfront for us

And i think robbie is staying he made the mistake of leaving us once and it looks asif if hes sure he aint making it again. I dont really want him anymore but if he stays he stays if scores the goal to put us in the knockout stages of the champs league il love him again.
