I can see Villa losing a few of their key figures now Martin's gone, to be honest.

I'd be surprised to see Young still there in a fortnight.

Out of interest, do we know who POTL's sources are?

So Jacob (?) says Young "is on", and POTL disputes this.

Interesting.

I don't think they actually disagree, I think POTL has misunderstood what Jacob means. Jacob said 'It's on', indicating we're trying. POTL responds by saying 'it's a long way from being done' - which isn't denying it's not on, just that it's not done yet. I think POTL might have read Jacob as saying 'It's done', rather than 'we're pursuing this', which is how I'd read it.

POTL has added more

Confirm, we are trying for Young. Have only offered him 60k pw on a 5 year deal. Player obviously wants more wages, he is not going to move on the same wages, there would be little point. But also recognises that City, Utd and Liverpool are not interested, and Spurs is the next big club, and it is in London. The player wants to come, but we are going to need to increase our offer.
Watch this space on this one. And don't believe everything you read in the papers.

The 'don't believe everything you read in the papers' part suggests we may get a bit of a lampooning in the redtops over the next few days for our pursual of Young.

I don't like to question any itk's credibility,b ut it's itneresting how often, immediately after the player is being publically linked, they weigh in with 'inside information'. Presumably POTL knew we'd made the offer for Young before the moment about five minutes after O'Neill walked?

Now O'Neil has gone I can see the Young move falling through, the board will face a huge backlash after this and I doubt they will want to antagonize fans furthur by selling their two best players.

MON probably left because Villa accepted our offer. Now we have to agree terms with Young which is why it's far from done.

This would be good.

Taking one of rivals best players would be good, but again we are buying in a position that we are very strong, instead of strengthening our weaknesses - the biggest one being a striker who can lead the line.

More likely he's just found out he wont be getting as much of the Milner money as he'd hoped.

Just need a more complete forward to play in the middle. Any ideas?

BJC - Carew?

He's on 65k/week from reports so our offer of 60 would be actually offensive

true.

Ambition to play in the CL? Even on the same wages he wont be playing for nothing.

or this?

Carew??

He can certainly holds the ball up....
