The reason he caused havoc at arsenal was because Wenger wasn't strong enough to deal with the situation. Seeing this happen and keeping him as captain was wengers mistake. The players looked like they all had to solve their issues out on their own, gutless wenger did little to help. They couldn't afford to drop him at the time as they didn't have enough quality in the squad to replace him.
The fact that gooners hate gallas should make him popular with spurs now maybe? Let's not forget that not too long ago he was one of the best defenders around! Bassong, Kaboul and Dawson will learn heaps from him about timing tackles and positioning. I say well done Harry.

I would argue that Wenger caused the problem in the first place by making him captain, and passing over a stoic character like Gilberto Silva who could have held it until Fabregas was ready.

firstly let me make it clear that him playing for the scum, is not the reason i think we are mad to touch the wanker.

i dont even think hes a bad player,although not what he was a few years ago.

i do see that he could do a job for us,now that i have calmed down abit.

but can anyone really be honest,and say their first reaction on the news wasnt
'fuck -off'
we are putting alot of positive spin on this one,but surely there was someone else we could have signed.
he makes my skin cringe,honest!! nothing to do with his scum past,just cant stand him.

lets hope he fails his medical!!!

if not and he joins, i wont boo him, and i hope he has a wonderful season with us ,leading to glory etc etc
but i will still think hes a wanker....

Utterly utterly pathetic.

You remind me of the people a few months ago who refused to support David Cameron's plans to repair the economy because Maggie stole their milk 25 years ago.

Seriously mate, what the fuck?

"Yeah he's a good player who could do a good job for us... I hope we don't sign him!!!!1!111one"

Believe it or not this isn't about your likes and dislikes on a personal level, it's about signing a top-class player to help the team we all love to progress. Would you rather Harry and DL signed Jamie Carragher or Matthew bloody Upson just to keep people pacified? :roll::roll:

Palacios was a big success for a team that was pushing their way up from bottom 5 - but not such a success for a team pushing into top 4.

Krancjar...once Modric was fit, couldn't get a regular spot in the first team;

Bassong....once King is fit, can't get a regular spot in the first team and now with Gallas in the team will be pushed down further;

Chimbonda (through his agent friend Willie McKay - ah, those were the days for Harry).....enough said;

Crouch....certainly different, good option for a team pushing up from Europa League place into top 4, but ultimately too limited to be a success in a top 4 team, hence also losing his automatic first team place (hopefully);

Keane....see Palacios, but lower impact;

Kaboul...can't get a regular spot in the first team;

Defoe....would have signed for any manager once Spurs came calling.
Has not progressed as much as we hoped still.

And then he pursued James to replace Gomes as No.1 GK...

But never mind, "he got us to the 4th and into CL qualifiers - so in Harry we trust!"

For Kranjcar, Bassong, Kaboul and to some extent Crouch understand that it is a squad game so they were all super signings.

Your Palacios comment is mind boggling and your James for Gomes remark is untrue.

As for Gallas, not massively excited but if Redknapp thinks he is right for us it may work out. I can see the logic, I just think he has declined as a player.

Seems odd that you write this yet have Graham Roberts in your signature. I find that a paradox as Roberts was the Gallas of his day.

The idea is growing on me a little. I still think he is a prick, but didn't he actually not like Arsenal. He threw a strop on the pitch because he thought his team-mates were a bunch of utter cock-sucking muppets.

I'm pretty sure his added experience at the back will make a difference and he'll be a useful player to have around.

As I have said all along in this thread, William Gallas is a quality, experienced CB who will bring some much needed quality to our back 4, especially in the CL. Its an excellent signing for Spurs.

Still a **** though

I couldnt give a shit who he's played for,If he comes in and can steady our back four when King cant play,thats all i care about.He might be a ****,but he's our ****,and we probably lack one or two of them,you know horrible bastards who know how to win games....big games.If anyone on this board can seriously doubt Redknapp after what hes done for our club over the last 2 years,they need a brain transplant.

This. So spot on it saves me having to post anything more than :clap:

You are the best fan in the world, have a gold star.

I no longer really rate Gallas, the fact that he was Arsenal captain is actually still a big deal to me. Would you have had Sol back? I'm sure he could've done a job for us.

Sorry to piss on your cornflakes, but putting rivalry aside for one second - if he's good enough to captain Arsenal, then he's sure as hell good enough to play for Tottenham Hotspur.

As for would I have had Sol Campbell back - at one stage yes I would, when he was still on top of his game. I don't have to like him as a person to recognise that he can do good things for our football club. I'd take Berbatov and Carrick back in a heartbeat too.

It'd take a while to forgive Campbell or Berbatov, but I'd do it, provided their play justified it, just like I forgave George Graham for being ex-Goon scum when he won us a trophy. That said - Gallas hasn't exactly ever betrayed Tottenham like those two did, has he?

In fact other than play well and win things with our rivals and score a decent goal against us, what's he done that horrifies you so?

I don't care whether or not Gallas is a nice bloke - being a knobhead is one of his strengths. I'm certain he can strengthen our back four, and I'm sure he's very good to his mother.

Nobody's asking you to go out drinking with him are they?

Gallas would, he loves to go out on the piss.

He was good enough to Captain Arsernal 3 or 4 years ago maybe, but bad and petulant enough to be STRIPPED of the captaincy and have it handed to a 21 year old KID.

In those 3 years he's gone dramatically downhill, or don't you think players age? We're not mid table Tottenham anymore. We shouldn't be getting Arsenal's hand-me-downs.

Like a lot of people I dont want to sign him as he is an ex Ars*al captain and his temperament worries me. Im not going to lie if he had played for anyone else dispite his temperament problems I probably would be reasonable happy to sign him. As I think his experience will be good for us. I certainly wont be booing him or anything of the sort if/when he pulls on a Tottenham shirt.

Well if your prophecy is fulfilled and he's a bag of balls, then he'll surely just be dropped in favour of the mighty Kaboul or Bassong :roll:

Competition for squad places is never a bad thing, leadership at the back is never a bad thing, experience of winning things with far better teams is never a bad thing - and if he's crap then at least he was free. :duh:

I never saw him win anything in 4 years at Arsenal :think:

I saw him made captain because of his leadership and experience and then saw his captaincy given to a child and his form drop dramatically.

You still seem to think he's the Chelsea Gallas. I've got new for you mate... he isn't. You're living in the past Marge, quit living in the past.

What's the problem? Who gives a fuck whether he's a **** or not. Hell, I think Lennon is a **** but love him because it benefits Spurs.

Gallas is better than Dawson and Bassong, is on a free, has pace and top level experience. This is a great signing and he is exactly what we need at the moment.
