Kalinic of Blackburn has real potential and in a good team i reckon he'll be class, he has a touch of Berbatov about him, I'd be happy with him.

Been looking round the top scorer's charts, the only other decent recognised players are Lopez at Lyon and maybe Nilmar at Villareal.

Scoring in Germany can't be hard as Gekas - donkey that was at Pompey is top scorer with 14!

How about taking a risk and going for someone like Caceido as a 3/4th striker - on loan at Levante and has hit 7 in 8 games. Only 22 and looks like he's matured, big strong bloke too.

Lopez is class, he has a Tevez like physique so I think he'd get by OK up front on his own.
Nilmar is a very good player as well but I think he should stay in Spain, the EPL is not for him imo.

I'd like to imagine we could get half the players already mentioned but i just cant see any of them happening, maybe its the 'it'll all fall apart in the end' attitude in me.

One player i think we could get though is Podolski. He had a poor first season for Koln but he's been good this season so far. 4 goals in 10 games isn't groundbreaking but i've always thought he's a better player than his goal scoring record shows.

Surround him with a great team and he scores for fun for Germany, better than a 1 in 2 record. Admittedly he didn't do the same at Bayern but barring last year (once he'd moved on), they haven't had a great team in ages.

I honestly think he'd thrive at Spurs, and we have certainly been linked with him before. Best of all, he'd cost pennies compared to what the other names being thrown about would cost.

Milito might not be so unrealistic, he's had a very poor season at Inter so far.

Gekas is actually a very fine finisher, just the idiot that was in charge of Portsmouth at the time openly stated he didn't even know who Gekas was, and seemed intent on not playing him.

Vucinic looks a classy player. If there was any chance of getting him i'd go with him. He hasn't played too often for Roma this season, anyone know why?

I don't believe the hype about Dzeko. I saw 2 legs last year Wolfsburg v Fulham and he wasn't a patch on Zamora. I've heard excuses for him like Wolfsburg were imploding but now they are only 11th in their league I don't think he is worth mega bucks. He might be another moody character to add to City's problems.

Fascinating news if reports are correct about Dzeko - how are Citeh going to set up? Are they going to go two up top? If so, they'll be less secure in midfield and their defence looks shaky if you can get at them. If they stay with one up top....well, which of Tevez, Messi MkII and Dzeko are going to be happy sat on the bench?

Citeh do have more than a passing resemblence to a 12yr kid with ADHD playing Football Manager.

Obviously we want to get the best player we can get, but ultimately I think it is about getting a certain type of player as well. Half of the players I see people mentioning are just not that good and certainly not significantly better than what we have. If we could sign Van Persie tomorrow, would he really improve our team? Well, he would certainly add another top quality player, but is he the type of player that we want?

We basically need a player in the Drogba mould, essentially a mobile target man that can score goals, that can be used as the focal point for the team. There just aren't that many players like that out there.

Failing that, we need a pure goal-scorer with more to his game than either Pav or Defoe!

Whatever, its hardly going to do them any harm signing Dzeko is it?

I really think Benzema could be the one that would be ideal, I just think he would settle in really quickly and become one of the lads and would be a huge hit at The Lane.

Yea because one of their big players would never come out and say they want to leave, causing a massive shit storm.....oh wait....

I also don't recall saying it would harm them, I actually started my post by saying it was fascinating. Questioning how they can keep three+ strikers happy and questioning how they'll set up is quite reasonable isn't it? Or not? Please do let me know......
