I cant believe that some Spurs fans think that this has been a good season!. Its unbelievable.

It has been a dreadful season. We had a massive opportunity to stamp our authority and intent this season, and quite simply we have failed. Through poor business in the transfer market and poor tactics/selection/man management from the manager.

Only Redknapp is able to get away with the recent poor form by the media whilst they are absolutely crucifying Wenger who once again have qualified for the Champions league. I just dont get it?! With our squad and the opportunity we had in signing those "New Strikers" we all needed we should have the same target as our friends down the N17. Yet they have had a awful season with a 3rd place finish and we have had a great season probably finishing 6th!??

We needed to be more ambitious this season from the board, management, and supporters. We needed to finish 4th to cement our stature as a Cl club, and in a season where there have been no truly outststanding teams and the likes of City and Liverpool will finsih above us after dropping so many points is disaster IMO.

I can count on the fingers of one hand the games where we have played really well this season.

Villa away
Arsenal away
Inter Milan Home
AC Milan away

That is it, the other games we have won have been scrappy and I cant think of any games off the top of my head that we have won by more than 1 goal.

I know many of you will say that I have a short memory etc, what about the 90;s etc. I have been going to Spurs for 35 years and have been a season ticket holder for the last 20. I have seen some good, great, and some truly awful football. This for me has been the most disappointing of the lot. Why? We had a base to build from. We have some great players, a good team spirit it seems. All we needed to was improve a couple of areas of the team. The most obvious being the fact that we all said that we needed to improve on our strikerforce. The players were there but for some unknown reason we have been left with the worst strikeforce in the league. How the hell did this happen? Atleast during the awful Sugar years we had nothing to hope for except maybe a good cup run so the expectations were very low. We never exepcted much.

This has been an awful season and we have blown our big opportunity. Someone needs to take the blame, as next year we will not have the same oppotunity.

If you really have been a season ticket holder for 20 years including this, and you think that this has been an 'awful' season.....you're mental.

Weve played really well this season. We just dont score goals. Or even look like scoring sometimes.

We are 3 players short of an exciting team. 2 strikers and a centre back.

It's been a frustrating season all in all but there have been some amazing highs too (coupled with a few lows).

Never dull being a Spud.

It really has been a missed oppurtunity and I don't like the attitude that we shouldbe grateful for it because of poor seasons in the past.
When Redknapp came he said when doing away with the DOF that if there were failings in the transfer window then he'd be judged on them, well the last 2 transfer windows have been abject failures when we in a strong position to strengthen.
If we don't watch ourselves we could be back to square one.

A season isn't defined by three games, in a competetion, that can only be constistently won by the same 8 teams....

It's defined by 1 win in 13. Which will be 1 in 14 by a quarter to 10.

I would say it was a season of promise which transended into a season which has left us feeling deflated (which is still above our usual standards) as we expected more and we also know that our team is better than the results we have had against lower table opposition.

Playing in the CL has left us with such high expectations now which is only understandable as we have been so mediocre for years...... we just want a bit of success!

We could have done better on and off the field......so IMO not 'Awful' by any stretch of the Spurs imagination.

really enjoyed the trips berne, milan & madrid etc but i think we've missed a huge chance to cement our position as a top 4 team.. that above all means this end of season is a massive downer for me..
& to be honest i dont think we'll have a better chance for the next few years.. the top 3 man u, chavs & scum have been shite this season compared to the past & city where all over the place at one time!!.. liverpool will only improve again next season & have a far better chance of attracting top quality players needed to compete than we do for any number of reasons.
not apportioning who's blame right now wether solely or as a team/club but i do think we've shot ourselves in the foot again.
gutted really :violin:

Some of you lack ambition!

As for the great Champions league nights you talk of. Well we are not going to be having them next season, and probably the season after as next year we will have a resurgent Liverpool competing with us and probably an improving villa aswell. We should of nailed it this season and we didnt. We failed. Next season will be alot harder.

Seeing the club beat the European Champions at the Lane, seeing them beat the mighty AC Milan in their own back yard, seeing us claw back a 2 goal half time deficit to win our first game in the Emirates, watching us play free flowing and free scoring football in the Champions league and finally lock horns with the most successful team the European cup has ever known......yea your right this has been the worst season ever and I long for those glory days of the late 90s and early 2000's.

C'mon now this type of talk is retarded, it has not been an awful season by a long stretch it has been a mixed season with highs and lows that has ultimately ended in frustration but to say it has been an awful season is totally moronic in my opinion.

What's important now is how we react to this final set back, Liverpool had to come back after a poor season last year and look to have invested well and rebuilt.... we need to do the same in the summer.

Who we buy and sell will be key, it will show us all our ambition and whether or not we will just accept we had our moment in the sun or will we push hard to get back what we had and continue to progress?

NExt season will be all about fourth place with no CL distraction, we still have a very talented squad although we lack in a few areas. Keeper we have Gomes who is patchy although talented and we have no cover or competition for him, I still feel although we have an ambundance of CM's we could benefit from a more dominant player there to allow the rest to shine, a striker or two who can play with Van Der Vaart and some cover/competition for our full backs and wingers. (I'd also like to upgrade Dawson although I think Kaboul could be that man....if only King and Woodgate has stayed fit )

We also have a lot of dead wood that needs to be off loaded.

But can we please stop getting carried away with the negativity and put things into perspective?!

I haven't been a season ticket holder as long as you, but with the shit you've put up with in the last 20 years it appears you are happy with Spurs when we are shit.

I've been going for pretty much 20 years, had a season ticket for about the last 10. In that time I've seen a lot of shit football. It seemed we would always finish midtable, having a couple of good players surrounded by a team of at best average players.

I appriciate that we could have been more this season but hey ho, that's life. Were only a few players away from having a quality squad who I believe could challenge for the league.

Glass half full....COYS

This season has been inconsistent in general, every single team has an array of what ifs and shoulda wouldda couldda's because no one has really performed to their best consistently this season.

We have become a top team and because of this we are presented with new puzzles, lesser teams come to the Lane now and are more than happy with a point so they play for a point and we have to break them down without space behind them for the likes of Bale and Lennon to exploit....problem is VDV aside our strikers are simply not up to the task and their movement does not create the space.

Yes we should have invested in better strikers, we should have done this pretty much every window since for some reason we signed Crouch to recreate Portsmouth success in similar fashion to Francis' Ferdinand and Sinton QPR reincarnations of the 90s (I never like to see this type of lack of creativity)

I don't think those of us suggesting this season has not been awful are displaying a lack of ambition, it's not as if we didn't want to push on this year....of course we did. I and most fans however always knew this season was going to be a great deal harder than last season with City growing and investing more and us having to compete hard on two fronts with our CL campaign, anyone who thought otherwise or that we would suddenly jump from scraping 4th to challenging for the league with the same squad in a single season were dreaming and delusional I always thought and suggested.

This season was always going to be tougher than last year, especially without signing upgraded strikers add to that we failed to really find a way to best accomadate VDV because none of our strikers were/are good enough to lead the line alone and it was always going to be something of a transitional season but one in which we have also enjoyed a good many highs to offset the lows and over all frustration.

I think those dwelling on the disappointment of recent weeks and spreading doom and gloom by saying things like "we have missed a big opportunity" as if in some way one season missing out on fourth closes the door on all our future hopes and erases all the progress we have made in recent years are showing less ambition than those of us who think we have come a long was and have a great squad that with a little clever investment in key areas can come back twice as hard next season and with just the league to concentrate on push the top clubs all the way.

But yea, have fun with the doom and gloom I hope you at least show a little more support and optimism when your at games.

Let me get this right Arsenal got to the last 16 of the CL, last 8 of the FA cup, runners up in the League cup, are gonna finish probably 3rd in the PL, hence in a CL spot and above us AGAIN, yet their manager gets crucified by the media and their fans are devastated with their season. Then there is us who got thrashed at home by Arsenal in the first round of the League cup, thrashed in the fourth round of the FA cup by Fulham, gonna finish probably 6th in the PL hence miss out on Europe, reached the last 8 of the CL, on a run of 1 win in 12 yet our manager tells us we have had a great season and the media lap it up, and worse still quite a few of our fans agree that we have had a great season..... I just don't get it. Is that the height of our ambition? It's clear to see which of the 2 clubs has a big club attitude and which one does not!

The reason why everyone is so disappointed and believe it to be an awful season is because it was there for the taking.

Yes City have spent millions but they're still not very good are they? They are not running away with the league.

Score the open goal against West Ham, stop the cross vs Wolves, give a crap against Wigan and we would be going into the game tonight proud of our team and watch them fighting for 4th.

If we were level on points going into tonight and lost I doubt many would be saying this was an awful season, Redknapps comments about money etc might be justified.

Our poor form and bad season has nothing to do with anyone else. We have not played any where near the potential this team has. The difference between success and failure is a very fine line. Unfortunately we are on the wrong side of the line.
