Personally, I'm glad Levy showed a degree of restraint with those three targets.

I do like the look of Carroll, although, he has as much chance as being the next Michael Bridges as he does Alan Shearer. £35+ million is a ridiculously exuberant fee for a player with questionable fitness issues and an off-the-field attitude that could see him do a stretch inside if he's not careful.

If memory serves correctly with Neville - we made an offer of £2 million which was labelled "derisory" by Moyes. Are we to extrapolate from that choice of word that Everton were after double if not triple that amount? Way over the odds for a 34 year old with no sell on value. It wouldn't have been an issue if he would have had the same effect on us as McAllister had when he joined Liverpool, but I doubt it somehow.

Sullivan and Gold made it quite clear that they would never sell Parker to us. To renege on that well publicised statement would have meant that they would have been persona non grata with the fans.

One thing to consider; had we been successful with Parker and Neville (I certainly wasn't against the former, by the way) then would we have seen the emergence of Sandro? Baring in mind he only got his chance due to injuries sustained by others.

It doesn't, we made an offer of 250k for their club captain

do you guys reckon if Levy had of went all out and bought Neville, Parker and Carroll we would've still been as shit since the Milan game?

Neville and Parker are leaders on the pitch something we are sorely lacking not to mention good experienced players and Carroll at the very least would've attacked everything under the sun our wingers whipped into the box but 35 mil is a lot

would've cost us a fortune though so it's perfectly understandable why Levy couldn't make it happen, this summer is going to be one big soap opera with our top players being circled by CL vultures and us trying to unearth another Berbatov or Drogba

Harry's not exactly left a golden legacy at his past clubs. It's Levy's job to look past this six months, next season and the season after that.

I've been critical of Harry in the past but that team tonight tried everything it could but was just missing that something .

As anyone who has ever been a manager knows , you never really get the chance to manage . You just have to make the best of the cards you have been dealt , shifting sands and interfering superiors .

Professional football people will be able to see that Harry was seriously short changed by Levy and he will be hot property come the end of the season . We will be lucky to have him next season and personally I will be surprised if he doesn't walk in the Summer .

We can all point to matches we could have won but it is six transfer windows since Berbatov has left and the club has been unwilling to replace him .

We have truly spoiled the ship for a halfpenny worth of tar .

What is worse is knowing that you spend through the nose for your tickets but the funds will not be released to mend matters in the summer .

Yep, thats just what El Tel was telling me the other night, just after we beat Chelsea.

this. I'm glad levy keeps an eye on the purse strings.our spuad is already bloated with alot of harry sìgnings.we can't keep just stockpiling players until he getr ìt right. We only have money because of levys good financial management.we could easily turn into the next leeds if harry is let lose!

Can I just say, Critisism is probably constructive at this point but people need to be aware of facts.

During the Summer, we were dicked about by Luis Fabiano. This boy was going to sign. Harry met and lunched with the guy and his people. This deal was as good as done. Fabiano Fucked THFC over, for a new contract.

During January, Harry was clear from day one. GET ME ANDY CARROLL! Did it happen? and yet there were bids flying around on deadline day (pr stunt if you ask me) for anything from the spanish league that has scored a goal!

Yes Harry wanted Neville, Yes Harry wanted Parker! Yes Harry wanted Carroll!

No Levy didnt want Neville, No Levy didnt want Parker enough and BIG FAT NO did Levy want Carroll!

continue...

This is what I just don't understand, how do we manage to get messed about by players who say they will come one minute and then sign a new contract with their club the next minute?

When we are negotiating with a player/agent just tell them that we are interested and would like to put a bid in for them, they have a week to decide after that we move on and look at other options.

...no, seriously...

Levy equals no ambition

Was on the fence but last two windows proves this point

Where's our stadium? Full of bullshit and hot air

6th at best and selling players to man u, staring up at arse and cheatski

Enjoy our future people

Do you really believe that?
Levy is incredibly ambitious.

Fair play on Levy.

Why the feck would we neeed Phil neville and Scott Parker? ARe we short on midifelders?

Andy Carroll for 35m? No thanks.

Sick and tired of the dross HR is trying to buy. Zero knowledge of world football, unless its a player hes seen on MOTD

We 'needed' Scotty Parker for his experience, and the fact that we had a lengthy midfield injury crisis in January, while no-one had any clue that SnadroRanieri would be ready to come into the team so soon, or that he would adapt to the English game so spectacularly. In retrospect, I am glad we didn't get Parker, as Sadrno got his chance, but FFS - it was hardly illogical. It was hardly as though he wanted to buy Carlton Palmer, is it:bang:

We 'needed' Phil Neville for exactly the same reason, his experience. Have I missed something, or didn't Phil neville play right-back...where he successfully kept a toast-of-the-World Gareth Bale completely subdued using his experience, and help to keep Crouch completely isolated using his experience?

You understand, the experience that if we had had it you might have ground results out against Blackpool, WBA, Spammers and Wolves.
Also - why is the assumption that if he had got that player with experience that he wanted, he would have went on to get another and another and another, until ouor team was completely remodelled with duffsters - I see no reason whatsoever to believe he wanted to do that.

Redknapp wasted £40m on dross like Defoe, Keane and Crouch.

He then hesistated and was indecisive with his next £40m and missed out on everyone completely (twice).

Levy is a hero. The best thing to happen to the club since Burkinshaw.

What about suarez?

We were aware of what it would take to buy him. Our guys went and spok to Ajax, but for the money Harry believed it would be better spent elsewhere. This being because he saw him as too similar to vdv!

You mean like the 20m Levy was prepared to spend on Suarez, but Redknapp thought he was too like Defoe ?

Or the 40+ million he was given to spend on three strikers already proven to be not top drawer.

There are various reasons we are not in the CL, but the single largest reason is our managers inability to coach and prepare teams for all occasions and his tactical ineptitude.

Where do people get the Defoe thing from? He said he's too similar to VDV and that he wanted a striker to "lead the line" whether he's wrong or not, he didn't say anything about Defoe.

Exactly. I don't want Harry to be sacked but people need to realise Harrys way is to keep improving the squad as much as he can without coaching tactics etc..

Past chaimen have bowed to Harrys snide comments in the press "i'm down to the bare bones" etc.. but Levy thankgod has more sense than that. THFC will be here long after Harry has gone and if we're gonna continue to compete at the top end of the league than we need to do it from the sound financial model that Levy has installed.

I didn't mean football management per se .

The point I was making is that whatever you are managing you usually have to put up with interference and very rarely get the luxury of picking the people you want .

Harry has spent over 40 million on the strikers that he wanted!

You have no idea whether the club was willing to put money up for a striker. You're guessing.

Harry said in January 'the Chairman's made money available'. Who knows what we were willing to spend?

Yip, and we were rumoured to be ready to splash £35M.

Redknapp wasted £40m on dross like Defoe, Keane and Crouch.

All true

I'm getting sick of levy

What a mess these last two windows

We nEed new owners or this season will be our best ever

What a load of bull!!!! One of HRs conditions to join Spurs was no DoF so he could pick the players to buy. Well he's done f-all except waste money. DL has supported HR to the hilt. Blame HR not DL

I happen to agree with DL. We didn't, & still don't, need an aging RB, an aging overrated CDM and A. Carroll, as good as he is, will just cause our team to play like he's a strong Crouch, long balls from the back. Why have a great midfield if you're just going to bypass them every time?

This is the point I was making

Harrys targets may not have proved successful but they were his targets

Lefts methods may have been too risky and some what disrespectful

The key being they have been singing from different hymn sheets, there lies the problem
