Can someone explain to me the logic of Harry Redknapp wanting Joe Cole because Harry thinks he can get the best out of Cole. This is the same Redknapp who wont and cant accommodate Kranjcar in the same midfield as Modric and van der Vaart.

This past season Harry conveniently forgot some of the top notch performances Krancjar put in when Modric was out with a broken legs.

Although Kranjcar may not try fancy flicks everytime he has the football like Joe Cole, technically he is just as good if not better than Cole and has a fantastic strike on him.

If Harry does indeed want to bring in Joe Cole, I am completely dumbfounded.....

Afraid I can't. I just don't get HR's obsession (and it does seem to be one) with the Coles, Parkers, Nevilles etc. Does he think he's still at Portsmouth or Southampton - or even the Spammers? Top 8 finish will do nicely, triffic init?
Maybe he feels he can only "relate" to proven EPL players and that trying to cope with a couple of " Johnny Foreigners" is too difficult ("I can't be arsed, to be honest, whereas I know Scotty Parker and Joey Cole are triffic players") etc.
Thank God for Levy, say I.

good to see people are taking this ITK as gospel btw - even though all other respected ITK says there is no truth to it at all (Roger Morgan retracted his ITK saying he was being wound up).

Personally dont believe we were interested in J Cole for 1 minute. Certainly appears like there is a lot of ITK to undermine Harry at the moment. He hasnt come out and declared interest in Cole, Parker or similar this summer has he? He wrote a column the other day where he said he is sure Parker "will find a good club" - a great chance to declare his interest (like he did in jan) but he didnt. Anyways, back to the Harry slating......

Oh come on Pringle, you're massively playing down his Parker column.

"Scott is combative, relentless, professional, modest and unbendingly committed. That's why he was voted the Football Writers' Player of the Year and why he is popular with most supporters of most clubs.

"Today he's likely to line up alongside Frank Lampard and Jack Wilshere against Switzerland. But when Steven Gerrard is fit, I don't see why Scott has to drop out. He could be a good fit in a midfield diamond. Scott is as versatile as any midfielder we have.

"He's not just a holding player. He can attack, score goals and play on either side of a midfield diamond.

"He is not flash at all. The car he drives is nothing special and he has a big knowledge of football, as do Gerrard and Lampard. I could see all three of them going into management one day.

"Scott played at Tottenham for West Ham last season, just hours after his dad had died. I don't want to say he's any better than anyone else for doing it because everybody reacts to things in their own way. But it tells you something about him and his love for football.

"And West Ham fans will tell you no one was more committed to their team last season."

Subtle.

Maybe he should try writing something nice about one of his own players for a change.

yeah its massively complimentary. However in Jan, he literally said "i want to buy him". If that was still the case then why not say it now? I am not saying we dont want him, but to say we 100% do without any solid proof seems a little bit wrong. For whats its worth I do think we want him - but lets not get opinion and fact mixed up. Too many people slating Harry based on opinion and ITK which is contradicted massively

Interesting column nonetheless - kinda indicates that Parker wouldnt necessarily replace Sandro in our starting lineup were we to get him.

Very likely we would play something like this:

Gomes

Dawson ....... Kaboul

Walker .............................................. Bale
Sandro

Parker* ............ Modric

VDV

Drogba* ....... Leandro*

Sounds more like Archie using his ITK status to fuel his agenda to me.

But Harry has also said he sees Bale's future as a LB...

My point being Harry says a lot of things.

I think that idea died when instead of playing Bale at LB when he had a chance, he moved the team around completely and played Corluka there instead - just to keep Bale higher up.

I see BAE being our left back. I don't think Bale would want to play there permanently at all either.

Left. He would be fucking sexual - but where the fuck would he fit in? BAE's too good to sit on the bench, and we have Rose as back-up. He would never dislodge bale at LM, so I think it's a bit odd.

Really? You got a link?

I saw it on another forum and have asked for it. It's an italian paper about Juve's and Inter's interest in him, Juve being his preferred destination. If I find it I'll post it, but things may have gotten lost in translation in regards to our interest.

Does Bastos play on the left or right?

Wiki tells me left wing or left wing back.

Assuming we're not selling anyone major (eg Bale), this seems a similar move to the Gervinho/Lavezzi links - a fast, tricky winger who can give us more options when Bale and Lennon are injured or off form.
