The rumour doing the rounds elsewhere is Defoe (and N'Zog) are having a medical in Sunderland. I think wires have been crossed as someone said it was mentioned on Newcastle radio. Not sure if the twitter link from the apparent agent is independent of or the cause of the rumours but Sunderland do seem to be getting deals tied up early.

So we've gone from absolutely nothing happening and a million miles from any deal to both Leandro and Pedrozo signed and Defoe on his way to Newcastle.

Hmmm....

I believe he would be available for less than 24million euros (reading between the lines at Lyon) he is pretty much a 1 goal in 2 striker. Very good conversion rate for a support striker. He is relativley small 5ft 8" so is in the mold of your Rossi / Vucinic.

Think hes like 28/29 so probs wont have much of the maligned 're-sale value.

Would that be 6'1" Vucinic who is very much in the mould of Berbatov?

nah i totally forgot, but inter won 1-0 and he played 90 mins, they made my treble come off aswell

They are playing Vasco Da Gama on Saturday 10.30PM Kick Off, we shall see if he is in the line up.

With respect, how much have you seen of the last two to make you satisfied with that quartet? I am not having a good and I am aware how ineffective our strikers where last year but what qualities do the South American pair have that make you potentially happy with them making up 50% of the strikeforce for next season?

Where has that come from mate?

Admittedly only YouTube videos but with us likely to play with 1 up front having Leandro as our 3rd choice and Pedroza to play as often as Pav for experience is good enough for me.

We need to start planning for the future, because not only are our strikers not scoring goals, but they are getting close to their sell by date.

Unfortunately the two incomings were only skyderen, and he has backed off Leandro already, and somebody else pointed out in the Leandro thread that Brazilian news are reporting that he's still signing the extension, not with us.

So the "hmmm" might be more of an "oh well"

If Pedroza isn't a hoax (which I'm not convinced about), then he'll surely be off the Championship or League 1 for a year or two. The guy isn't even a regular starter for his Mexican side and hasn't even made the national side U21s (and yet Gio is the star of their full side).

Lisandro Lopez and Vucinic would be quality but won't the HG rule affect the nationality of the forwards, given that 3/4 of our current lot our British.

I'm equally dubious but hope to be wrong.

I'd reinvest your winnings on him starting on Saturday night!

Pav made 39 appearances last season, I think, that is a hell of a lot of exposure.

I can see Leandro getting a lot of game time given the fee as you would not pay that money if you didn't think they were ready to contribute. I'd like to see 2 new strikers (keeping Crouch if necessary, as he provides an alternative and is tough to handle in european competition) and sign someone who can play wide or, in behind to provide competition/ rotation to Lennon, Bale and VDV.

Interesting. I suspect its all balls but part of thinks that Chinese whispers have changed N'Zog to N'Gog. David N'Gog was heavily linked with a move there as part of the Henderson deal. Could be that he's had time to consider it & is now going.

Just a thought.

One of Leandro's biggest flaws is his movement, but he might be okay with our supply from the flanks.
