He didn't say he needed to raise funds..he said he needed to sell players. The point being that we have several players over the 25 man squad limit as it is, without buying more. Logically, therefore we have to sell 8 or 9 in order to buy 2 or 3 while not going over the 25 man squad limit for next season. It is all a game of cat and mouse. We buy all our players straight off, other teams know we have a pile up of players we basically need rid of and can pay us considerably less than market value. We play it right, we get a large portion of our net spend back in net sales.

I could easily believe that we would smash our transfer record though on a player or two, 16.5M (or whatever it actually is) is a pretty pithy amount in todays market, so anyone who doesn't believe we will go over that is not being realistic.

Vucinic is much more a Levy type of deal. Negotiating something around the £15m mark but probably includes add ons. Maybe try and get Adebayor on loan with a view to buy. We could get Diarra on the cheap too and a cheap replacement for Bassong if he goes, but that would be less than £10m I would expect.

All in all I think we'll spend about £30-£35m max this window. Plus we'll make at least half that back in sales. We have a new Stadium to plan for which is why we've cut back on the spending since Harry arrived. We're not going crazy in this window.

I was told by an Italian football reporter yesterday that in Italy they claim Juventus or Bayern will get Vucinic and only Spurs links are based from UK sources. Whenever it's been reported in Italy it's always "according to UK sources".

He is a bit late with that info, it was in out twitter thread yesterday I believe. If Neymar is close to a deal with Real then Higuain could be up for grabs, certainly wouldnt mind him!
