But how can you discuss the itk on a player when you dont even know the player?? Maybe its frustration buddy, i feel the club does everything wrong on trnsfers. I wouldnt be so stressed if we actually bid for a player.

Its just a bit of fun at the end of the day, some people like it, some people don't, but no need to get all heated up about it. We're all frustrated, hope things happen this week.

They achieve nothing, because ultimately someone, somewhere will solve the clue, so the actual ITK may as well been posted in the first place.

But the majority of the ones posted by The Goat haven't been solved...

That was kind of the point in them, rather than to pst something that could be guessed in 10 mins.

The greatly irritating thing with cryptics is that you can edit them to suit whatever you want.

Blue & Yellow might as well be the colours of Pjanic's bedsheets for all it matters.

Surely it would be better to be able to guess the player easier then discuss THEM as a player. I mean who the hell was blue and yellow?? nothing ever happened, nothing ever explained...

It is time for some to step back and take a severe reality check. This thread is about rumours nothing more, nothing less. It is very entertaining and sometimes, albeit rarely, a precious nugget of ITK comes our way which proves fruitful. Most ITK is posted in good faith and is no doubt accurate at the time as an indication of players that we may wish to sign. However, most do not get beyond first base and even for those that do there is much that can subsequently go wrong.

Cryptic clues are open to very wide interpretation. What some people do is to think of a player they really want (most of whom are totally unrealistic targets) and then try to make the player fit the clues. They then convince themselves that the signing is about to take place and become suicidal when it fails to happen. The large percentage of us treat the forum as good natured fun and there are some really amusing comments made. Long may it continue and my sympathies to anyone that takes it all too seriously.

One name I think we should inquire about, if Vucinic falls through, is Paolo Guerrero of Hamburg. He just finished the Copa America tournament with 5 goals in 6 games, making him the top scorer of the competition. His hold-up play is very good, and he has a good history of linking up with Van der Vaart.

He's also pretty realistic, considering he's likely not on massive wages at Hamburg, and he didn't start many games last season for them. Would Arnesen sell him to us, though? I just read an article saying that Atletico Madrid were interested in him, but they don't want to sell.

Also, I really wish we would've gone after Caicedo from Levante. City sold him earlier this summer after a loan spell to Levante, and now he's off to join Lokomotiv Moscow. He would've been a reasonable buy for us, and he would've given us a physicality we lack up-front.

We should keep cryptics, definitely.

Just ignore it if you dont like it. Personally I think it's good of the mods to share it when they just get grief for it

It's not that I don't like it, more that I just find them completely pointless.

It's like I've got some sensitive info, I can't tell you about it though, but I can hint at what it might be.
10 minutes later and 'oh, you've guessed right, it was player X we were after'

Pointless.

Not that sensitive after all then was it if the hidden identity of player X is then revealed.

I have to second this, when the window opened i thought here we go again with all this IKT stuff, why bother...as the summer went on and no footie i got into it.

Sometimes on the train on why way back home i read thru this thread and the amount of amusement i get and laughs its amazing. sometimes the passengers on the train think i have lost the plot but i know they are jealous becos they haven’t got any itk thread to read.

The most amusing of all was the journo's post and the comments that followed; where the hell is he now probably doing his rounds of other football clubs. long may it continue i say.

We agree with you about the pointless cryptic but as i've explained that doesn't apply to any that we've posted. They were made very hard on purpose.
