I just don't wanna line up against Everton with one of Crouch,Pav or Defoe to be honest.

Well, thanks for the ITK. It's horrible and depressing again, but thanks anyway.

Trezeguet is available on a free transfer - better than what we have?

I have posted this in the appropriate forum but it is awaiting moderation.

Villa have booked BMI Medical Centre for Wednesday. N’Zogbia expected but they have booked it all day which suggests others will take place. Also have conference room booked at Belfry to entertain guests.
Hutton, Jenas and Crouch definitely wanted. Combined bid is only just over £15million. Bid has not been accepted, negotiations ongoing, but permission given to speak to players. Worried Jenas will be the most unwilling, so will offer him a shorter contract.

I still stick by German based players; Huntelaar, Farfan and German Based Defender/Full Back (name unknown) It’s not Dortmund one; be realistic; Chelsea are in for him. But deals will be done.

BUT confirmed deals being worked on now are from the Spanish league.
·

As I said in my original post; Afellay was originally thought of as a loan deal. But that was before interest was ever made public. Barcelona will listen to offers.

· Lassana Diarra; definitely trying to do a deal. I had heard this as rumour before but now I have it confirmed. Levy negotiating a good deal for both teams. Rumour on price is £10-12million plus add-ons. I don’t know if any of the other sources have mentioned this before, I can’t see it on the “ITK” forum page. Madrid NEVER paid the reported press price so wont be taking a hit.

Rumour; Contact from Spain for Defoe. No bids etc. just contact and just a rumour.

£15m is undoubtedly a bit low for those three but I would be minded to accept somewhere close to that to trim the squad and reduce the wage bill. Offloading three players at once would really spark some movement I think as well.

Interesting that you've now moved from Germany to Spain

Affelay, please let this be true. The press were reporting this morning the deal would be for £4m which is ridiculous but if anyone can do it, Levy can. i'm guessing it will be another deal with the option for them to buy back in a couple of years though.

JD to Spain?? you know, he might actually do quite well over there :)

This is the point I'm making, no matter how well the club is run if we don't show ambition to get back where we were right now, then we will lose our best players and we'll never see the CL again!

Haha it's early here. I completely read that wrong. I really should stay offline until at least noon

Make it closer to £20m Villa and I think we've got an excellent deal for all parties.

Diarra in for the same amount as Palacios leaves for or less would be good.

Thanks for the info Journo....at last some ITK!!!

Re Jenas, you would think he would want to play for Villa, he would be first choice in their midfield - I always had the feeling he was happy enough to trot a long at Spurs....and this is part of the problem of trying to shift some of these players...London, wages etc. I'm sure he wouldn't be taking too much of a hit with wages with Villa though. I suspect this attitude is whats holding him back as a player to...

Crouch is interesting, I suspect Villa would appeal a lot more to him than Stoke, so from that point of view its encourgaing.

Obviously Hutton is well documented ITK wise, but 15 million for all three is going to fall way short of what Levy will be looking for...however as an opening bid I dont think its too bad actually. I would guess 20 million for the three would be in and around what Levy would be looking for.

Pleased regarding Diarra, A signing I want us to make and Afellay is very exciting.

I would still take Huntelaar if other targets arn't possible.

Again thanks for the info....very positive IMO.

We had roughly the same squad in Jan as we do now, yet that seemingly didn`t stop us bidding 30m+ for a top quality striker, 6 months later and were still no further forward.

How would us having the same (roughly) squad we did in January prevent us from bidding £30M+ for a top quality striker?
How does this prove that Levy made massive bids for players he knew wouldn't sign just to impress the fans?
We are no further forward than 6 months ago - but we may be closer behind the scenes than you realise.
Nothing you have said herre, in any way disproves my belief that this claim that Levy made some massive bids knowing they would be refused, just to appease the fans, is conspiracy theory:bs:

Defender could be Sedar Tasci, who we have been linked with a few times.

RE Journo:£15 for Crouch JJ and Hutton seems a liitle cheap for Levy i would think. Hutton is in last year of contract so probably no more than 2 or 3 million, Crouch i think is still worth about 8 or 9 to some teams and JJ would easily be worth 7 or 8 for a team like villa so a combined bid of 18 to 20 million would be about fair and great for us in terms of freeing up the roster - it would take 3 home growns out of the squad though. IF the Afallay info is good then great (i do feel Barca may do a Bojan deal with a cheap initial price and additional complications etc but that isn't a bad thing). Diarra would be a good replacement for Wilson if the numbers add up in terms of fee and wages. I think Wilsons dodgy knee and lack of form means we are probably best getting shot IF someone is interested. Not unconvinced Huntelaar could do a job for us - with regular starts i feel he will score but does he fit the system or is he too Lineker when we need a Shearer? Farfan i'm not sold on, would rather Marin or N'Zogbia for the money quoted - could suggest we are looking to offload Lennon. As for the german defender??? without knowing who the poster is suggesting then who knows. If they are 24-26 and international class then yes, if not i don't see them being an improvement.

Glad to see POTL trying to raise the spirits, obviously seen the depression on here today and wanted to give followers hope. Thanks POTL.
