I thought Juan didn't know who we was, or does that not Mata?

*I'll get my coat

Eek

Seriously though, I would be surprised if Mata we're to end up with us....definitely a long shot, but at least we are trying!

I think we are in with a chance because Arsenal have a strict wage structure like us. But, they've not qualified for the champions league proper yet either.

I think we are in with a shout. All we need to do is show we care more. Offer him a good deal and guarantee him a starting spot etc.

If anyone can, Levy can.

Yep they have a strict wage structure, its strictly at least £40k higher than our strict wage structure.

They might not have qualified for the Champions league either (YET) but they have a much bigger stadium than us and an owner that wants to push the team to the top of the league again...

(P.S in case there is any doubt I still think they are sh*t and wonder why anyone would ever go there?)

Yes but don't forget. Berbatov was interesting Man U and went to meet them but he said that Spurs treated him better, looked after him and his relatives and basically did not faff about and offered him a good deal, so he went there.

It CAN be done.

Woeful Wednesday, preceeding Thrashing Thursday before SC finally implodes at about 2am after no signings on Freak-out Friday...

But then look what happened, after a year he decided that he had chosen the wrong team. Look at the damage he caused us in the end with his histrionics, do we need to go there again?

Just look out the window everybody, look look....today is definitely the day.

In my garden there is a cockerel pecking the shit out of my boys toy gun. That's gotta be a sign that today's gonna be a good day, right?

Coys

Surely this is an omen that the Cockerel will triumph over the Gunners at last - no more St Totteringham Day:cheers:

Is Mata a similer player to Afellay?

I was thinking the same thing.
Don't know that they are 100% comparative, but surely they would be occupying the same squad position, so it would be either one or the other:shrug:

With all the players we see in the ITK, Adebayor, Vucinic etc my main concern is that if we don't get any of these players we have been courting for a number of weeks what kind of player is it we're going to end up with when the window is about to close?

John Carew?

What shall we do then? Never try and get a ambitious signing? Its not that he made the wrong decision IF we don't start pushing and showing ambition soon vdv, bale and modric will be added to that list, you just have to remember these players aren't spurs fans they are profesional footballers who want to win and be challenging for things so if they can't do it here they're gonna want to move aren't they?

Exactly, it will be one or the other and Afellay sounds much more likely to me.

Ta for answering SP :)

Apparently Nasri has said he'll stay for this season. Still, wouldn't be surprised if Mata went there. Would be if he came to us.

Oh transfer God, what woes will you beseech onto us this day?

We've been saying "today's the day" for the past month Ryan! Maybe right eventually, I suppose... but I have a feeling today will not be the day!

Someone may move on, but that doesn't look likely today either. Maybe by the end of the week? Hutton out the door? Let's hope so!

Yidio said yesterday he MIGHT have some exciting news for us after he has had a pint with his source today. Do we know if that would be a lunchtime pint, or an evening pint?

In The Times today, it noted that 22% of all the Premier League's transfer activity is done in the last week.

And considering we make up 5% of the Premier League, I wouldn't be surprised if a fair chunk of that is us alone.

Mata from Marca

'Juan Mata is very close to being Arsenal. If the transaction has not closed definitely still is because other two English clubs, one of which Tottenham have submitted in recent days pathways offers that are interesting enough for the player's father, then a representative, is analyzing all the pros and cons of each.

The buyout clause is 20, but in reality the contract with the club Levante Mata lets trade their way out from 15 million. From this figure to 20 of the final compensation, Valencia can retain the player by scaling up the tab as the amount of supply and a total of 750,000 euros.'
