Whilst I like Diarra, I can't see him being happy with a bench role.

Sandro and Modric to start. Hudd and Diarra back-up? I know that Sandro is injured at the moment, but he'll be back a month into the season and somehow I can't see Diarra being happy to sit around if he's making the step down from Madrid.

With that in mind, I'm not sure he's what we need and i therefore can't understand why everyone is creaming their pants about him.

This Vucinic deal feels a bit like the Arshavin one. We seem to have agreed terms so many times that you wonder if they keep moving the goal posts in the hope of other teams coming in for him.

Would be great if we could get him in this week. I'm not too confident though.

Modric wasnt exactly a statement player. He was a risk. I dont think he has a big enough ego to demand seeing Galacticos' arrive. He simplly wants to know that we will make every effort to improve and that the clubs ambition matches his own.

For me VDV would be much more likely to at some point demand galacticos start to arrive or he is off.

Diarra replaces Palacios & O'Hara
Afellay replaces Bentley & Gio
Vucinic replaces Crouch & Keane
New CB replaces Woodgate & Bassong
New striker replaces Defoe or Pav (I'd) keep Defoe personally.

Good window, moves for most players funded by sales. Some in the Kitty for a January push if we are in and around top 3 or 4.

totally agree on all that and wud be fantastic window. i wud love to add mata to that but that just been greedy! i agree with alot of stuff on here u write haha
center half, winger, central midfield player, striker x 2!

However, we could also look at it that being sensible and signing the RIGHT players and therefore getting towards the top of the EPL is a better sign of intent to Modric than splashing the cash on some fancy dan.

So whilst I think we will need to pay big, I don't think it's just about that with Modric. He wants success, not a team full of expensive mercenaries.

In fact it was ITK to knock the socks off all the other ITK we've had so far (or something just as bold as that!)
