i agree with this. modric will be staying through this window at least. what will appease him more than a fancy signing this summer would be a spot in the top 4 next may, which will come with sensible moves that strengthen our areas of weakness (striker) and the squad as a whole (quality midfielders whilst shipping out as many of bentley, gio, keane, jenas, and hutton as we are able). i hope and trust the powers that be are less concerned with appeasing little luka with a costly signing, and more concerned with balancing and strengthening the squad for a run at the top 4.
if we are able to secure diarra, afelay, and vucinic in the next couple of weeks and ship some of the excess, we can go into deadline day with the hope that levy pulls the rabbit out of the hat again. it will be a bonus, but not what will make or break our season.

Sky Sports sources understand Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe would turn down a move to Newcastle if given the option.
Plus that cryptic form the goat was way too hard. If there all like like we have no chance of getting them!
Not sure we can compete with alot of teams.

No he didn't. He said "European football". It was badly reported.
Even European football might sound ambitious but he's a very good coach and they've got a bit of backing and some terrific prospects. Are they really that far behind Fulham or Stoke? Three years isn't completely impossible. They finished last season (after he had dismantled the archetypal Allardyce unit and rebuilt a proper football team) very, very well.
The point is that they are difficult and that you probably shouldn't get them.
They have more money than God. Bought by a Sheikh so like the Spanish Man City. Hence of course we can't compete.

Journo called the medical and is a day out, which could have been down to a few things.
Given the number of games we have i think he would be happy to join on the basis that there is a fairly regular spot in the team available if he can prove himself. He's not going to get much game time at Real if he stays.
ray:ray:ray:Agree with most of this. Although i can't see us shipping out Bentley this window, nor can i see Defoe or Pav leaving.
I also think Bassong will prbably stay as it's getting late in the window to find a quality CB replacement when none have been properly linked so far.
