Not in anyway trying to be smug, but I always felt that this window would turn out this way (so far, anyway).

I said so right at the beginning of June, and have consistently said that this window had the feel of the previous 2, but I was assured that 'it's still early in the window' and 'theres still 2 months to go'.

Sound familiar?

The only thing that's surprised me is that so many on here believed that the likes of Rossi, Aguero et al would be achievable targets.

Ok, now you can all have a pop at me for being a smug smart arse.

but he hardly cost anything...... by the time we shift the players we are looking to sell or might be force to accept loans, it will be the week before the season starts, which is usually when we see the start of the panic from clubs especially the likes of everton, villa and other clubs that havent strengthen. I believe this is the reason why we havent see anyone arrive yet, deals are inplace, or we just waiting for selling clubs to should their hand. I prefer clubs doing their business before the window reopens.

I completely disagree. Forwards are too expensive and a dying breed. You can find intelligent, team playing, pacy by the dozens in the midfield. And without the need to be powerful. I'm telling you lot, the more I read about the 4-6-0, the more I think it solves all of our problems. Except for selling our deadwood. I guess

where were u last season. thats why we finsihed fifth. we need more than a creative pacy team playing midfield . ridiculous statement. evry wiining proper team has a strong spine to the team. and u can work around that. we have no one up front to see benefits elsewhere

We're signing Moulti Ling Wol from the K-League? :)

Triffic player. Think the chairmans trying to a deal, I dont really get involved. I'm only the manager, obviously if we can get him he'd add a bit of quality. I'm also a fan as I think he'd really struggle to pronounce my nickname - wheeler dealer.

My posts are always decent :)

But no nothing ground breaking

Decent? you mean flirtatious, lol

I think we'd all love to see Kane and the Ivory Coast lad given a chance this season but I can't see Harry putting them in the 1st team squad when he doesn't want to part with his prize possessions (Defoe and Crouch) :bang:

Peanut on COYS re Leandro

Think we will go back in for him now. Doubt it will happen as same issues exist as before (mainly that Inter want to keep him until Jan & want an awful lot of money). We would have to gamble and pay over the odds for potential.

Wouldn't say it's ridiculous. I don't think we would have done any worse last season without a recognised striker. Roma played 4-6-0 a couple of years ago with Totti in the VDV position and played good football and finished second if I remember correctly.

It seems to me that we wasted a player with our forward every game. Is it any wonder that we tended to play just as well if not better when we were down to 10. It's because we were effectively using 10 every game. Without a forward, you leave the opposing teams center halves without anybody to mark and confused. And you can exploit the space between where the top man should play and then does play to great effect. Guess what winning side has used this well recently? Manchester United.

I'm just asking you to think about it. Not telling you to believe it. But VDV holding the ball up as Bale, Lennon, Affelay and Sandro run onto the ball. That could work.

And it's very inexpensive.
