still not convinced we should sell defoe. he's going to score 25 goals for someone next year. i just know it. hope it's us.

Ive been told by moderators not to mention n’zogbia deal as its not spurs related. BUT he did have medical at BMI medical centre on Wednesday. Ask why skysports or no other media station has pictures or videos of him like they normally when they follow them around. They were told it would be yesterday so it could be done privately; he turned up in jeans and leather jacket.
I have been told that Villa are losing patience with players and Tottenham. They wanted all deals done by time Alex McLeish gets back on Monday. Players want stupid amounts and Daniel Levy wants lot more than the £15million offered. If what is being quoted by Tottenham and players are to believed then it might be a long time before they are sold to any club.

Surely to God we have to accept a few losses on some without being wreckless so to speak...to free up space and get them off the wage bill.

All this affects our ability to get players in

I very much doubt that for all of Redknapp's protestations about not being able to buy before we sell that the sale (lack thereof) of certain squad players is preventing us from making the signings we want.

I see it as media spin to ensure that we stay on the front foot in terms of our sales positions.

and this is what worries me massively...if accurate.
the players are not wanted by us because they are not good players!! yet levy wont sell them for there true value! He will cost us this window, tight git. Hutton is pony and has 1 year left on contract = 3m max. 5m for jenas is fair and 7m for crouch! All about right in my book, maybe 1 or 2m more and it would be awesome. imo.

Since, to the best of my knowledge, he has never even hit 20 goals for us in the EPL I think that prospect unlikely and his leaving is a risk I could easily live with.

If we sign Afellay and Rossi I can see us going along the 4-3-3 route.

The only delay I can see with Diarra is the outgoings. We wont sign him before Palacios is sold, or maybe Jenas but he's less likely to go I think.

I'm liking the idea of 2 of Modric, Sandro, Diarra and Huddlestone in the middle, VDV in behind the striker, and 2 of Bale, Lennon, Afellay on the wings. Either of Afellay or Modric can cover VDV in the hole behind the striker too.

We'll have to keep the ball on the ground, but we'd have the quality to do it a lot of the time. As long as we still have a big man option as well I think we'd be fine with Rossi up top.

It wont prevent us from making the signings as such but if we cant off load its a pretty ridiculous strategy, we are operating in a different climate regarding rules and regs and the size of the squad and its subsequent wage bill is a huge consideration...in other words we have to be confident that we can off load before we buy first - or we have to literally sell before we buy, being the most prudent of options...Levy is Mr Prudent.

Another thing I've just thought of - didn't we have recent ITK suggesting that we were waiting to sell GDS to Seville on August 2nd or something to avoid a part payment to Barcelona :shrug:

Would that in any way impact on our ability to get the best deal for Afellay if indeed there is interest...could Barca just sort of build that loss, albeit a small one, back into the Afellay price...

Totall supposition...but just wondering...

Surely this isnt correct to start with! McLeish only came out the other day and said Nzogbia would be the last of any summer deals unless further players leave + he has youngsters he wants to give a chance to. So signing 3 players from us is highlly unlikely.
