I always like to think that we will at last unveil our summer signings at teh hoime pre season friendly. Looks unlikely at this point, but it is only wednesday.
Somehting SCers need reminding of, every so often: one of the first things Levy said when he took over at the helm of our great club was that he remembered, as a fan, day like the unveiling of Ardiles and Villa on the pitch at WHL (as I do). Great day, like the dawning of a new era or promise, a real statement of intent. He said he wants to take us back to those days.
So I wouldn't discount it just yet.
Am I negative or just a realist?
NEGATIVE:hump::hump::hump:
I think a reluctance to drop VDV when he was clearly struggling for form was one of our big problems last year. No player should be automatic choice unless his form demands it.
We need at least two strikers how can form a partnership aside from VDV, as well as at least one of them being able to play with VDV.
We only just missed out on CL last year with what we have
Our strikers are statistically unlikely to be as woeful two seasons in a row
We know the club are trying to improve on what we have
I think it will all be fine.
:clap:
Sorry but I am getting a bit annoyed at the calls to just flog JJ as quickly as humanly possible.
:clap:
Absolutely right. 1) If they were serious bids, why would we put them in at such a late stage that there was not physically time to complete them. Again, 2) if they were serious bids, how come we didn't go straight back at the end of the window and put in the same or similar bids? Or some sort of bid at least? Can anyone answer that?
1) Because there were ongoing, plausible talks that were not dicscouraging - but were dragging on:shrug:
2) Because they were rushed bids while we were desperate, and were being held to ransom somewhat, but not this Summer we have had far more targets to aim for, on more favourable conditions:shrug:
Now, a question for you: If these bids were 'publicity stunts' as some fans on here are so fond of claiming, what do you suppose the club would have done, since the main allegationj is that we didn't actually have the money, if one or more of the bids had been accepted?
I seriously don't get the Rodwell hype. It's almost like a myth. Has anyone actually seen him play football lately? . He's been atrocious and every everton fan I know wants him to be sold.
Yeah, but, to be fair, there were plenty on here who were actively calling for Bale to be sold or loaned out just before he broke back into the teamduh.
