Bassong wants to leave because he doesn't play enough. Will Samba be prepared to play as a back up player? we will get the same problem with Samba. It doesn't make sense.

And this is why the market is effectively shut down, except of a few big signings and a lot of "year left on contract" moves. Otherwise, every club (this includes us) wants way too much money for their players but don't want to spend anywhere near other clubs demand.
Blackburn balked at 12 million pounds for Pappis Cisse from Freiburg but then ask for stupid money for Samba.
This is why Levy has to wait. The market is feeding off a few big transfers that don't reflect the overall economic realities for most clubs.
The irony is that even if we did sign Kaka, which there is of course absolutely no chance whatsoever of happening, we wouldn't have solved any problems at all.
Except there hasn't been any deal yet :razz:
Have no idea when any interest was said, but I posted about mata quite a while ago, along with samba too, and a few others.
I didn't know who samba was ( didn't realize it was the defender) and didn't know who mats was either!!

I just don't get this - how young do the players have to be for it to count as the club's scouting system, in it's widest context, doing a good job? If we ignore all of the players in the team ATM who were signed under 20, and Sandro/possibly Leandro, what is the situation at present?
We have Walker on the verge of the 1st team; Caulker looking likely to be integrated into the 1st team squad next season; Naughton on loan with the same opportunities and chance as Walker had last year; talk of Harry Kane having the raw materials to make it; the possibility of Townsend being given the chance to step up; and we have just signed two young strikers (Callaloulos-fella and Couly-billy-fella). And that is just off the top of my head - I know Redknapp is talking up other of our young players, and blooding them in the Europa as well.
And Danny Rose.
I would kinda think that if we introduced 1 player from the younger ranks at the club into the 1st team every two years it would be good going.
