Adebayor on loan, Leandro in January and Brad Friedel on a free after all this noise about us making a statement, pushing the boat out, having a serious go at trying to get back in the Champions League, and showing Modric and Bale we mean business. Sigh.

Sigh.
What if that was enough to take us back into the CL places (or, amazingly, challenge for the title)? Would you still be whingeing?
Frankly, I'm more interested in players ocming in having an immediate and lasting impact than on them being seen as a statement - I am fairly certain that at the end of the season Modric would agree.

It depends if Ryans info has anything to do with POTL's then, because there isnt a cats chance in hell that we would smash our wage structure for Samba.

True.
Just pointing out that that alone wasn't a clincher, as it could apply to other targets as well.
Sorry to interrupt.
Carry on.

Considering strikers we can realistically obtain, the qualities we need and ignoring the past, Adebayor is the perfect candidate.

People that don't want Adebayor

We all want one of the top ten strikers in the world, but we missed our chance last summer.

He might not be in the same bracket as Torres (on form), Eto'o, Ronaldo or Messi, but he's certainly in the next bracket down, with Milito, Hernandez, Berbatov, Rossi, Llorente, Suarez, etc.

And not only that, he would fit perfectly into our system. Perfectly. Better than nearly every other striker we have been linked with.

Forget his past. We need arrogance, we need a bastard.

He's an ideal signing. He will scores 20+ goals. His addition would see us jump ahead of Arsenal, and stay in front of Liverpool, in terms of first XI and balance of the team. Trust me on this one.

-------Adebayor----------

Bale-----VDV----Lennon

-----Modric--Sandro------

BAE--Dawson-King--Walker

-------Gomes-----------

That's a top three team. Wonderfully balanced, for home and away.

Id be happy with Samba although 15m is way off, hes worth half that and hopefully Levy will get him for nearer that mark or id rather look elsewhere or use the youngsters if Harry hasnt sent them all on loan??...wheres Diarra?? btw? wasnt he in London a few days ago or was that more take with a gallon of salt?? or has it taken a twist with Barton becoming available for free?. Again though its all about that elusive striker though out of all mentioned i want Adebayor Hes Strong Big most importantly hes PROVEN!! the lad just needs a home where he can settle and just play the game that home my friends is WHL or lets bloody hope so if we could pull off the 3 signings of Samba Diarra/Barton and Adebayor i for one would be v.happy.....id be bloody delighted if a 2nd striker was added and the outgoings all fell into place also :) we can dream of such a perfect day .
Good day all :)

Considering the current excuses for strikers we have at the club, I can`t understand for the life of me why some people are underwhelmed by Adebayor....Would absolutely love it to be him, a realistic target, goalscoring, PL proven, tall, good in the air, strong, pacy hold up striker......Get it done Danny.

One of the present four incumbents must have found an alternative abode of employment I reckon, for movement on any incoming to be given the green light.

And Arsenal. All we need now is to get him angry at United and Chelsea and we'll finish first :)

He's just not the ridiculously awesome mega-starlet that we were promised by POTL and his cryptic bollocks.

call me cynical but why wud man city sell us adebayor when we play them withing 2 weeks of league starting.

If anything it will be loan deal , thats all.

i think people need to realise that nowadays there is absolutely no fucking respect between any club at all.. blatant disregard in way they tap players up and no one cares. I suspect city are worst of lot now along with chelsea cos money talks.

Couple of bits from the POTL Blue thread on COYS....

ROBinBKK...

I think it is either Llorente or Nilmar.

Skyderen...

Llorente and Nilmar is very much on the cards from what I hear, if this Blue is a third target, then we are in for a treat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adebayor isn't worth breaking the wage structure, at least not by much. He's a good forward. No more, and if it is him POTL would have well and truly wasted all our time being cryptic about a player 95% of the world knows we want to sign.

i concur, id rather give modders another raise!

Sorry mate, I am going to have to disagree with you there. He's a disruptive influence and I honestly don't think he's that great a player.

Happy to be proved wrong if we bought him, I just don't think he's worth the hassle.

Is Skyderen trying to suggest we want to get all 3 of Nilmar, Adebayor and Llorente? Or that we want to sign one or two from that shortlist?

As there is no way we will be signing 3 strikers (unless all 4 of our strikers leave and even then it is very doubtful)
