Jenas might not kick up a fuss, but he offers little more than that. If I was on whatever k he was a week for not kicking up a fuss I'd be mighty good at it. I'd much rather get someone in you can rely on when the chips are down, bottle, fight, whatever you want to call it. Can you ever see Jenas coming on from the bench and turning the game or playing consistently to cover injuries.

Don't let your judgement on Barton's past misdemeanours/character blinker yourself from seeing his qualities as a footballer and who's to say at a more successful club he wouldn't be happy enough...and do you know what? If he is as good as he thinks he is, he'd be playing every week. I trust HR and the coaching staff to make those decisions.

Anyway, JJ? We've been through this for far too long and he's flattered to decieve to the point that he's fallen from being a great hope of English football to the point now where he's finally withered like a spent cock to the depths of a backup player, because he's fucking gutless and wants an easy life. Give me someone with a large portion of nuts, JJ's mum keeps his in a wee bag.
Jj happy to play a bit part and won't kick up a fuss if he doesn't play that often.

Or

Joey Barton, who would most likely want to play most weeks, would cause who knows what disharmony if he didn't get his way.

Both players of a comparable ability IMO.

 Mmmmm, it's a toughy!

You know what I think Dan is doing?

Almost finalising a deal for Diarra, then right at the last second say no actually we can only pay (a smaller fee). RM then have to either accept that bid or have him rotting on the bench (or not even that if he's not in the squad)

EIGHTEEN SODDING MILLION?

That can't be true, surely. We'd need our heads tested. We can't seriously be planning to break our transfer record for a player we don't need?

Did someone say David Bentley?

It was said earlier on that they no longer see us as a threat.

Why would they? They are challenging for the title this year.

With two quality strikers we'd have been challenging last year.

But more fool them if they want to help us get one of those strikers.

I think Adebayor and Rossi have always been blue and yellow. Don't you lot remember the goat saying the important word was "and" meaning two players I believe, and we have been linked with those two since January (retrospectively in Adebayors case).

If we shipped Keane, Crouch and Defoe, Adebayor and Rossi would be the optimal replacements of who is available, but I worry it would mean VDV being played out of position most weeks.

As far as Jenas goes, many of you lot are stupid, blind or both to what this bloke actually contributes and has for 6 years consistently. No matter how many games like Bremen away, ManU home, Inter away, ARSENAL away, Villa home he puts in, or the great passes he can make like SToke away or Bremen away etc, his detractors are only stupid enough to notice that he's not world class - and most of those detractors are stupid enough to to sing the praises of players like Huddelstone, Ekotto and Dawson.

If used correctly and given license to go forward he is one of the best box to box midfielders in the EPL.

I hoped we'd upgrade him this year because then a) we'd have a fantastic player and b) we could stop listening to dimwits moaning about the bloke.

There actually aren't many players in our squad who have contributed as much to our most successful period as a club for 30 years. Over the last six years he's consistently contributed to two 5th place finishes, four european campaigns, one CL campaign, been a major factor in our one trophy win and getting to another final.

How shit.

Agree with your first two paragraphs wholeheartedly, as for the rest :bang:

Why do people feel compelled to over defend Jenas - its ridiculous as is some of the slagging regarding him.

He's decent, nothing more or nothing less....there is a reason why there is so much polarised opinion regarding him, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle....between the two extreme views.

Don't believe for a second that the fee would be anywhere near £18m.

Journalistic sensationalism, IMO.

Of course Man City see us as a threat - some people on here really are naive to think otherwise. That said I have no idea why they would be willing to a deal that strengthens us. Maybe they do just want to get a % of the wages off the books, or maybe they actually aren't the heartless bastards we want them to be and are acquiescing so Ade gets to play somewhere, and we are the best commercial deal for all involved.

Obviously all IMO

It works two ways, yes they are strengthening a rival but if Adebayor scores a winner against other teams in the top 5 then he is doing Citeh a favour in the process.

We're not a rival to City, at least not in their heads. They think they are up there with Chelsea and Utd for the title this year and probably have aspirations of winning the CL too.

They can't name him in their squad, there's no point having him on their books unless it is a loan deal.

So yes it makes sense that if Spurs manage to get wins against the likes of Chelsea and Utd due to having Adebayor in the team then it actually benefits them overall.

You know what I think Dan is doing?

Sounds plausible knowing how DL works.

100% disagree, City are so up their own asses right now they can't possible see us as threat. Last season i think they saw us a threat but his one, with their new signings, no chance.

P.S. Bayern in for Adebayor

So if Archie thinks the Adebayor deal is close to being finalised it could be done next week - a possibility anyway

I don't think anybody see's us as a threat at the moment, be that Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea or the media or bookies. Everybody is tipping Liverpool to challenge for the title and Champions League places. This could work in our favour and take the pressure off us
