Hmm you sound like Levy! Fills me with deja vu to the past couple of windows. Does it really show we've come such a long way to be chasing players who we've known from the get-go won't fit into our wage structure or their clubs won't sell at a price we're prepared to pay, leaving other deals until the end of the window in some sort of game of brinkmanship to knock prices down, and failing to get our dead wood out because we won't budge on prices?Certainly seems clear from the info i got over the weekend and the ITK since that we will all be a bit frustrated througout the window regarding a possible new striker.
But when you take a step back and realise that we are now trying to negotiate with some real top top players then it shows how far we have come as a club over the past few years. I know some of you are that desperate we could sign some random unknown from abroad and you would all be over the moon, but you have to realise because of how far we have come, we can only buy players that are better than what we have and in order to do that we have to step up a notch, deal in bigger wages, transfer fees etc and this takes a lot of time. I personally think that Adebayor could end up at Spurs in the final moments of the window, when RM close the door and Man City realise that he is too much of an expense to keep. Have faith
No matter who you get linked with or set out to sign, if the end result is still a bloated, imbalanced squad that will struggle to achieve our publically stated aim of getting into the Champions League, have we come that far? Or are we playing out the same mistakes we made in previous windows?
