Hate to buck the trend - but I will wait until the TW closes before loudly announcing whether it has been a successful Summer in the transfer market, or not.

Behave, this isn't a place for being reasonable and calm

Hulk's the most overrated player in Europe at the moment. He's got the touch of a rapist. Wouldn't pay more than about £8m for him.

It may well turn out to be a successful widow, I certainly wouldn't deny that now. However, we've seen this happen before. The window dribbles away. The door is closing, and whilst I'm making no definitive judgement on the success of the window, it's perfectly acceptable to be concerned at this point. In less than an hour there will be two full days before the season begins and we don't look close to signing the striker we've needed for fuck knows how long. There really are no excuses now.

I don't buy the tedious sarcastic response of 'yeah, it's so easy to buy a top class striker though isn't it?'. We've had years to identify one, just one, striker better than our current crop (who we all agree are not up to much) and wrap up a deal. We have had golden chances (Rossi a year ago, we turned down, Suarez in January, we turned down) and blown them. We haven't even signed a promising young striker for 5-10m. We have had one position in need of improvement for well over a year, and we haven't done it.

Finally we are very close to clearing our deadwood. Few deals in the pipeline now. Bentley, Keane and Hutton wont be seen in a spurs shirt again...Really trying to do a deal with Blackburn for Samba with Bentley rather than taking a huge loss on him...Two clubs also in for Jenas but no fee agreed...Giovani no closer to leaving as we havent agreed a fee with anyone yet..

Daily Mail picking up on the story i said weeks ago with Chelsea increasing there offer and offering Benayoun..the more desperate they get they will offer more money and 2 players in exchange...

Like i said a few days ago..Couple itk's stated Diarra was done but it is not ...Should be completed very soon tho...

Now we are closer to clearing our deadwood we are really going for it in the transfer market to secure a top striker...

a combined goals and assists tally of 57 last season would beg to differ.

Agreed mate. Still frustrating though. I've just got home from watching thriller live up town (must say it was fantastic) and was hoping something might have happened in the 5 hours I was away. Sod all!!

If we manage to ship Keane, Bentley, Hutton, GDS, and one more...that will be a good start for freeing up space for a signing or two.

mentioned this in the hulk thread, that is incredible, i havent seen a massive amount of him, but always seems like a wider player from what i did see, but with that amount of goals/assists im sure we could squeeze him in up top somehow

He's powerful and direct, but a poor footballer. A bit Ronnie Rosenthal or Ryan Babel.

really? cant say i have seen enough of him to form a real opinion, although i would take Ronnie Rosenthal right now

Yes but if they dont happen until 2 days before deadline or later how do we go about signing anyone?? We are doing it the wrong way round. Get the players in then ship the others out.

I'd be over the moon with that and Diarra and Hulk on the incomings. I guess we can afford to lose Palacious too!
