gotze is phenomenal for a 19 year old, as for mobility.. i'd say ozil is only fractionally faster. I think they're both more of vdv's too though. can't think of anyone who i watch regularly that plays somewhat similarly to modric apart from xavi and cabaye, let alone if theyre a young replacement.

Absolutely not.

Modric is one of a kind. Ozil, Silva, etc, are not even close to doing what he does defensively. Ozil, Silva, etc are VdV position players.

You've got to factor in that Modric is already integrated into our squad and team. That makes every swap deal less attractive. Unfortunately you've also got to factor in the very real chance that he still wants to go to Chelsea the first chance he gets.

No for me. He's ace.

That is a very germane point. I struggle to think who would be an adequate replacement for Modric in our side. Talented as they are neither Gotze or Ozil could replace Modric although both would be an upgrade on VDV. Eden Hazard could possibly do the Modric role although he is naturally a more attacking player than Luka. The thing is though that Luka is proven in our team and the premiership. None of the possible alternatives to him would
be likely to countenance signing for us so basically it is a position which we cannot realistically upgrade. We should just be happy we've got him and look at upgrading the rest of the team so that he stays with us.

The only player I would swap Luka Modric for is Gareth Bale. We've got two absolutely cracking players there. Wouldn't swap them two for anybody. They're perfect for Spurs.

Yes. That's because I'm okay with a Huddlestone/Sandro with Ozil in front of them going forward in the future.

No because he's a completely different type of player - he plays in the VDV role, not the Modric role.

If I had to swap Modric for a Real Madric player, it would be for Sami Khedira.

ozil has the stamina of a sloth.

wish people would stop comparing luka modric the all round central midfielder to number 10 types.

You obviously have NOT seen Ozil play nor got any idea of the work rate he undertakes each game :duh: He cover more grass than most top players. Duh.
I was not "comparing" him to Modric - as, if you'd read what I said, Ozil defo is more of an offensive treat than Modric is. I also did point out that Ozil most probably wouldn't choose Spurs anyway should he decide to leave Real M.

In fact he plays deeper than v.d. Vaart.
Real M plays a kind of 4-3-3 formation....where Higuain/Benzema is the striker, and Ronaldo and Di Maria are the only other attacking players; which means Ozil's got lots of defensive work to do - something Jose made/forced him to do, and which has made Ozil a more complete player (not saying he's exactly an defensive rock).

people need to wake up regards comparing modric

he is a xavi, an iniesta....hes not a silva or an ozil

modric is the heartbeat of our team, he doesnt need to score goals or assist, he just keeps us in possesion & on the front foot

the amount of little passes he makes that just release people all over the park are unreal

there are only 2 players in the world like modric, xavi & iniesta....hence chelsea offering £40m!!

he is completely & utterly different to silva or ozil or anyone else....he is our heartbeat....he has the responsability of our whole way of playing on his shoulders!!
