Would you swap Modric for Mesut Özil?

Just to be clear Ozil didn't make any derogatory comments, his father did. So there is no reason for anyone to say he is unhappy or disruptive. Secondly, I wouldn't swap Ozil for Modric, not in a million years as they are different types of playmaker. The key skill Modric has in my opinion is his ability to drop a shoulder an switch on the afterburners from a deep position and therefore cut out two pressing players from the defensive line. That is invaluable when we have Ade, VDV, Bale and Lennon. in forward positions. Ozil is more of a pass and move player like Silva, Nasri and Iniesta . Great players but we would miss something of Modric with them in the middle.

Only if they gave us a very substantial cash settlement in addition...say £30 million

Different type of player, would be an amazing replacement for VDV though.

again no

I would buy Ozil but not for any of our current star players

We need to keep our best players and strengthen at the same time otherwise we never progress

This. The only way harry will rotate the first team is if we have players who can come on and make a difference, Change the game for the better or at least not weaken us. Players like pienaar, pav, Krank and gio do not strengthen us or make us better. They make us weaker. We need top players to push our other top players into being even better. We are top 3 now, we should be looking at very good players this window. Wages will be tricky but thats for the chairman to worry about. Ozil is very special, Would cost alot and wages too much. imo.

People who are willing to swap one of our star player for anything have no ambition. Would you swap the league title for a CL trophy?

I did say if I had to!

He's a good player!

I'm not saying he's better than Modric by any means, but he would slot in nicely in the centre and offer some different qualities (and would be a bit harder away from home).

 or sammi kedira.:eek:mg:

If you're gonna be a smart ass actually spell the player's name right old bean.

No I wouldn't swap Modders for him, totally different players if you each them both regularly it's quite clear how different they are.

Modric is the heartbeat of our team, he dictates the rythm of our play. Ozil is a wonderful player as well, but why transplant a heart for a set of lungs?

Well, I said I would swap him...but only for Ozil AND £30 million + (and I wasn't being serious, anyway) :eek:mg:
