Nelsen is free, we´d get money for Bassong. Neither will probably need to play anyway, so money for nothing. Short term deal, so we´d just look for a proper replacement in summer if we still need it.

To be fair (and I am trying to be positive) Ryan Nelsen was immense for NZ against Italy at the WC - although he was the only professional player in the squad!!

Bassong is not a FIFTH choice CB, it was not realistic.

All he needs is games and confidence back for any team below the top 6 or 7 and he will be fine. We are now finding out that you can'y keep players like that and not play them at all. Many people ridiculously complained about Bassong, but now they're finding out what an actual 5th choice CB is !!

Glowing report from the Everton website...
While Saha has managed 20 appearances this season, he has scored just twice, and is without a goal in 13.

His two goals came in consecutive matches - against Fulham in the league and Chelsea in the League Cup. Those strikes took his tally to 35 in 115 for the Blues.

Saha joined the Club after a torrid spate of injuries put paid to his Manchester United career.

Nelson - pointless.

Would much rather we recalled Caulker and Townsend.

If we want rid of Bassong we should be shifting him permanantly, if no-one wants him keep him till the summer when we have Caulker back. I dont see why we are loaning him out and so I dont think Nelsen is a necessary signing.

I kind of get Saha. Content to be on the bench and allows us to sell Pav. I just don't get Nelson. Slow, injured for an age and not going to be fit I am sure for a while......fingers crossed this doesn't happen. It is embarrassing.

Talk about the Bloody Football Manager game?
Sell players with a relatively high value, and loan out an unhappy player or two.
Then replace then with two veterans who's best days are gone and cant believe their luck that a big side wants them.
Terrible window. Great buisness sense. Money in, players of wage bill, squad trimmed a bit and back up players in incase of emergency.

We have to make a go of Gio now. I hate the wee Mexican tramp, but he is perhaps our best option to cover the wings in an Emergency. Need to get working with him.

Good points actually.

Disappointing signings given where we are and what we could achieve but Nelson isn't as bad as people are making out, yes he is slow but he is brave, good in both penalty areas and is a good leader and an excellent tackler. Hopefully he won't be required too often, but can't see him being any worse than Bassong in recent times.

Hopefully King and Kaboul can stay fit for the next 4-6 games though given the opposition we face

And JJ, great work.........you git! I think many of us were hoping you'd be wrong.

Hope the (apparent) non-signing of a good squad player/first team player doesn't derail our top 4 (and above) challenge. We don't have the depth to cope with a few injuries
