We are not a million miles from them in some ways, but some of you are more deluded than the OP's sentiments if you think that we are not still behind them in most ways including football.

As The OP rightly points out, Arsenal lost the best player of his kind in the EPL (Fabregas) and another of their most creative players (Nasri) yet are still playing much better football, more consistently than us, and have outplayed us twice this season, despite us supposedly having a superior team.

For us to have overtaken them in the footballing sense we would have to start looking like it when we play them and start finishing above them consistently. We haven't managed that once for last 15 years.

In every other way they are vastly superior to us. They are coached better, they make vastly more money than us, partly thanks to their fantastic new stadium and because there coaching ethos has seen them constantly achieve CL football and previously win championships.

We are starting to make progress in comparison, but have a long way to of to even be close to being compared to where they are and achieving what they have over the last decade plus.
I'm sorry but we have lost countless star players over the years. Far more than the goons.

BC, I would say its a bit further ahead than starting to make progress...we've been closing the gap, gradually, over the last few years and now we are above them two thirds into a League season.

We've been better than them this season, and there is no getting away from it - on the eye and by the biggest stat of all, the League table.

Not this season squire, we have rightly been lauded by many as playing the best football in the division.

This is the worst gooner side I have seen in a long time. The fact that they are as close to us, one of the better Spurs sides I have seen in a while, is down to the influence of RVP.

If you want to believe that then that's your prerogative, but what Arsenal play week in week out is better than what we play week in week out.

In terms of personnel we may be - on paper - considered slightly stronger, but it is not just about personnel is it. And to be honest even on paper it's much more marginal than most have convinced themselves.

I'm sorry but we have lost countless star players over the years. Far more than the goons.

Players like Overmars, Petit, Veira, Gilberto, Henry, Fabregas, Nasri, Hleb, Pieres, Cole, Adebayor, Flamini etc ?

Who are the great players we have lost ? Carrick, Kanoute, Berbatov ?

Over how many years do you mean? Since 2006 when we lost Carrick we've since lost Berbatov and Keane but haven't sold anyone else we didn't want to. In the same period of time they've lost/sold Henry, Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, Cole, Diarra, Cygan, Hleb, Flamini, Adebayor and Toure.

They have won the league at our stadium twice. Their fans have ridiculed and taken the piss out of us for two decades. They have sung "Are you Tottenham in disguise" to teams who are playing poor. They invaded our territory and now you want to wank over them. No thanks

I would say we have - by a small margin - achieved better results. But we are not playing better football than them on a weekly basis, it is more complex than that.

How anyone can watch the two games we've had with them this season and try to claim our "football" is better than theirs is puzzling to me.

We are flavour of the pundits at the moment but in terms of our brand of football compared to ManU, Arse and ManC I don't objectively see how we are any better. I think the pundits seem to have the ability to look the other way when we are playing poorly and when we play poorly it's worse than most of those around us's "poorly" and it has happened nearly every time we've played those around us. No coincidence.

I watch it, week in, week out, so yes I do believe that we have played better football than them this season.

We've been a bit negative a couple of times, but arguably we were more solid than the goons were up at Anfield (one of the games I think we were too negative) and yet they got a better result than us, in no small part because of RVP.

I'll openly admit I don't watch the gooners live as much as I watch us live, but the consensus of what I have read in the press, who do watch them as much as they watch us, is that we have played better football than them.

Thought you would never save me from the hammering I have taken for this thread....

To all those people that question my love for our club, give your head a little shake I love this club just as much as you all do.

OP, if you want your thread to be taken seriously, maybe you should change the downright retarded thread title.

I actually think they have done rather badly with the position they have been handed. Ok, Nasri and Fabregas going is difficult to cope with, but the fact is that losing Fabregas had been a long time coming, yet they still failed to find an adequate replacement. Also, they were incredibly lucky with the fees they gained for those two players, and in my opinion, haven't re-invested them wisely enough.

Two decent results does not turn around a season where they have repeated lost to awful teams and thrown away lead after lead. I still think that they will struggle to keep hold of 4th, even with Chelsea being so god damn awful right now.

How is it puzzling? There are 18 other teams in the league, and in general we've played better football against those other teams than Arsenal have done.

You're not really saying that our ability to play football can be judged on two games against one team? Yes they played better than us in both of those games. That's not the same as them playing better football than us over the course of a season.

And antlesh, apologies for saying you're a gooner if you aren't. Personally I don't think there is that much between the two teams when you consider every aspect of a football club, and I expect them to buy big in the summer, as will we.

However the most important part of a football club is its team, and we have a much better team than they do.

I was referring to 26 games played, not the two between us and only those two...

Apology accepted I would rather you tell me my wife is sleeping with you than call me scum.

Listen it ia intreasting to hear some of the points we hve discussed on here tonight, the point I am trying to make has clearly rattled a few and to be fair I expected it to!

But deep down I think we all can't stand them but should understand the task that is ahead of us is one that they faced and did successfully 6-7 years ago. To think that because we potentially have a better team here and now we are a better club/business than them would be a huge mistake! We have a long way to go to do what they have done for the length of time they have.....

I agree we are close to something special but it could be taken away from us just as quick we don't qual for champions league Harry goes the stadium stops us acquiring new talent etc.
