For me this has been one of the worst days of my 30+ years supporting Tottenham, but I knew it coming with West Ham winning this afternoon.

Yep, this will set us back and we will have to endure a summer of "Bale will join and Modric is set to leave".

Plus the might England team full of CL winners will crumble to Germany on penalties....nah more likely just crumbled in the group stage.

Try being on the Wembley pitch as part of the pyro crew when West Ham were taking the celebratory photo, then going knackered to see a relative in hospital (she'll be OK, but still) then coming home to Bayern trying as hard as they can to walk the ball to the goal line then miss a thousand times.

Still, I look forward/ahead.

It's comparable to us going out to Benfica back in 1961-2 and yet another unfair decision that stopped us getting to the European Cup Final. We won the game but lost on aggregate and I cried all the way home.

Such is football. There is glory and there is despair. Tonight, it was the latter.

Nah. I see West Ham as 6 points gained and although it's hard to take, Chelsea winning this should mean they keep Di Matteo, which in turn means we will finish above them next season. You have to take the positives as difficult or deluded as that may be.

Not the best day I've ever had though, that's for sure.

This is my worst Spurs-related day I can remember, and now I've got a 3000 word essay to do in 24 hours. Impossiburu.

I've done 6000 in a day bro it is possible.

However, you should do it in Spurs style as a tribute to this season. Write 2500 glorious words in 2 hours then do fuck all and miss the deadline.

Or do a perfectly good 3000 word essay which your tutor claims to have never received.

You have given me hope! I'll do it the Spurs-way, going to write 3000 immaculate words then I'll throw my laptop out of the window.

West Ham are whipping boys and the rivalry they have between us was extremely minor and only really went as far as geography until a random point in the mid 2000s when the Wet Spammers suddenly decided we are their biggest rivals by far and always have been. Load of crap. Only tonight's purchase of the CL was the true negative.

I don't think it's the worst, it's just a culmination of everything that makes it seem like the worst. man shitty buying the pl, chelscum's antifootball and luck prevailing (not just today but throughout the whole CL), along with them becoming the first london club to win the champions league and in the process knocking us out.. as much as i hate to admit it west ham played well throughout the whole course of the season and deserve their promotion, it was still a blow when they did get promoted tho as i hate the ****s. when it rains it pours so they say. i posted something along the similar lines in the bayern munich thread.

Quite simply it is not the worse day ever, go back 5 to 10 years ago I wouldn't have even dreamed that we would be finishing 4th with Chelsea needing to win the f**king CL to qualify for the competition next season.

On the balance of the season as a whole do I feel a little hard done by? Sure. However we are still a great club who are climbing the league slowly, doing it the right way and playing some great football. I think people need to take in some perspective at the moment and just be happy we are where we are.

Maybe you haven't been around that long, but I go back to the seventies/eighties, and I can assure you they have hated us (and I have hated them, as have quite a few of us) since at least then.

I think it might be the worst because pretty much every aspect of this is such an insult.

There's the fact that Chelsea managed to fluke their way through multiple cup ties whilst being outplayed and/or pummelled. There's the media coverage which has been fawning and has lavished praise on a squad worth hundreds of millions who have blundered their way through like a lower league team. There's all the obscene luck that has gone against us, the mindless hooting of opposition fans who find it funny - yet when you look at it objectively, the same four depressing clubs have found their way back into the champions league and the money, when two of them have been god-awful, and where a change is desparatly needed.

There are no positives - unpleasant players prospering, the better team not only losing out but now financially set-back (against teams with obscene wealth) and so on - the whole scenario is rotten. I honestly think that when bad things happened in the past, we would still have looked forward to next season - but now? We can and probably will finish above arsenal and chelsea next season, and yet the thought of another season is an unappealing prospect. I'm starting to get put off by the whole edifice of football.

The trouble is i dont think we will strengthen on what we already have, & our 3 main rivals for 2nd, 3rd & 4th Manu, Chelsea & Arse will get stronger again - forget Man Citeh, they are going to be on another planet. Like Harry keeps saying "this is as good as it gets" i'm afraid, & unless Mr Levy can get Mr Lewis to cut open the draw strings, we aint going to get this close to qualifying again probably for a very longtime, what with the new stadium finances being taken aboard.

It is a pretty bad day, but then, it has capped off a pretty shitty 3 months since mid February.
