It would be a fairly abrupt u-turn for Rodgers to go to Liverpool having so categorically turned them down previously. Would also be a real slap in the face to Martinez.

I genuinely thought Rodgers would stay at Swansea next year come what may but the chatter is certainly gathering.

As for us, all this ITK about Harry leaving is very worrying. Not because I'm 100% behind Harry staying, but because we need to have some bloody stability, and spending the Summer looking for a new manager could really cause us transfer related problems.

I'm sure it's been suggested already, but could the hold-up on Vertonghen be because Levy wants to be certain who the manager is before he spends any money? I don't think that is the situation, and I'd like to think Vertonghen would be on any manager's list anyway, but at the same time if I was Levy I'd want a manager sorted before spenidng significant moolah.

I agree, regarding the emphatic way Rodgers turned Liverppol down.
Giving the ITK of Rodgers being shown around the facilities and having a nosh-up, and today's ITK that Rodgers would be his (that particular bet to join us), I have to say I would be very surprised - but, there again, little surprises me in football, these days.

Either way Levy needs to make a decision regarding Redknapp and soon. If he's not 100% behind the manager (rightly or wrongly) then he needs to take the plunge and sack him. Whereas I'm fully supporting of Levy's alleged penny-pinching when it comes to the players, if he wants Harry gone then I think he may need to relatively quickly bite the bullet and pay the compensation rather than waiting to see if Harry goes elsewhere. We simply can't afford to have an uncertain managerial situation this summer.

Been saying this for weeks, its concerning to see ITK about Levy still being reluctant to spend money because Harry might only be around for another year. Just back him with a new contract or sack him but whatever the decision is lets get it done ASAP so we can move forward.

Aside from the Redknapp loyalists, who are strapping their clan tartans on and gathering in the hills for the Mother of all Battles, as we speak, I believe that the general concensus is that Levy should act, and act swiftly - whether it is to confirm him in his position and publicly back him, or to effect a change.

I think it was fine to just let Harry's contract run down whilst there were no rumours about him, provided that Levy was happy to give him money to spend.

But now that he's being linked with leaving and with reports saying he's fallen out with Levy...I think we need some certainty.

Back him or sack him Dannyboy.

Grey fox's info is interesting from the point of view that Levy seems be considering whether to give money to Harry or new man. The prob is we can't sit here transfer window after transfer window with Levy waiting to see what happens before spending money. He has to act now with regards the management. Back Harry with cash or move on!

Levy must have been planning to replace Redknapp for well over a year now. If Redknapp is sacked/goes to the middle east, I expect the new guy will be announced at the same time.

DL is the one to decide if H needs to get his back or his balls waxed?!

How do you know Levy hasn't confirmed his position? I would have thought that he is backing HR by going for Vertonghen, with alleged big money bids for Leandro, Remy and we're in discussions with others it seems.

It's always dangerous to have a manager who has got an end in sight. Look at our last season, or the collapses when Ferguson and van Gaal (at Bayern) announced they'd be leaving at the end of the season.

Because it's easy for our fans to forget where we were even 5 years ago, in regards to our squad and targets, it's bordering on absurdity how some people here want Harry to leave so much, based on the fact we had a bad patch? so did Man Utd and it cost them the title, but apparently our manager has to be superhuman

Totally agree. No more sitting on the fence, have to decisive now.

This is very much correct unfortunately. I'm with those who say Levy needs to back or sack Harry soon.

I think most people at this stage just want some stability. My preference would be to part ways because he's not likely to get an extension and I don't see that as an ideal platform for motivation...but for the moment Levy should be backing him or moving on.

I fully agree with the need for stability one way or another, but it's when people suggest Harry isnt good enough etc is when it gets to mind boggling levels, just 3/4 months ago we would have kissed his shoes to stop him managing England

These players are long term targets for the club. Levy is preparing to go back to the DOF system, and so an incoming manager could expect to inherit players anyway. Unnder a DOF system the club wouldn;t stop squad building just because there was uncertainty over the manager's status, or, even, if there was no manager in place.

We don't know that Levy hasn't confirmed Mr Redknapp in his position, and we don't know that he has, either. What we do know if that there has been a lot of ITK discussing their deteriorating relationship - and this is, after all, the ITK thread.
