Surely there must be some doubt over him with how the second half of the season went, if we start the first half of next season with the same overall form then we'll be in a relegation battle come Christmas and that must be playing on DL's mind.

Also the fact that this dip in form was obviously due to the England speculation - what happens if speculation occurs again this coming season - be it England, Chelsea, Qatar or whatever...

This is the sort of depressing rot that was clogging up Spurs Chat after the first two games of the season. One would never think we've had our best run of league finishes in almost 50 years.

Were Arsenal's and Chelsea's dips in form due to the England speculation, then? Or City's brief one? Clearly, it can hardly have helped, but to ascribe all the blame to it is simplistic in the extreme; I suspect the defeats to Arsenal and United dealt a major blow to morale, too, but it's just a fact of footballing life that clubs will have a crap run at some point in the season, just the same way that they'll go on a winning streak.

It's also possible that the Belgian squad commits collective suicide, due to unacceptably long queues at British customs. On the bright side, Vert won't have signed, so we won't lose any money. Hazard will have signed, so Chelsea WILL lose money. I can't be any more optimistic than that. Wheel me back in, Nurse Ratched. Time for my ECT.

I think it's more likely they all commit suicide after playing England, when they realize that they will never, ever, be as good as Jordan Henderson.

Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutely love us to sign Vertonghen, in fact more than any other of the players we've been linked with this summer. I just don't feel complacent that it's all signed and sealed yet. Personally I wouldn't leave the club I've grown up at, won the league with and captained to sign a four or five-year contract at a new club, who aren't in the Champions League IF they were still in the process of deciding whether to remove their manager and replace him with someone else. Of course, I don't know if that is happening, but there have been enough murmurs from those supposedly in the know to suggest that this could be occurring. As a player, that would worry the hell out of me, and prevent me from committing until I knew.

Yep, I see this. I'd be personally delighted if we signed a player no one here had ever heard of, who turned up out of the blue and proved to be brilliant. I like to be confounded and surprised (though not in a nasty sort of way, obviously!) and it would be an antidote to all the apparent angst...

The end of the season saw Ledley take time to have a minor procedure on his knee.
Catching up with Ledley today, he said:
"I had a really good start to last season and was pleased to play as many games as I did. A knock in training set me back towards the end, but I opted to carry on playing rather than take the time out to have the knee seen to. Unfortunately that meant that I didn’t play the last few games at the standard I would have liked.

"I’ve been discussing things with the Club and my contract expires this summer. The Club has been fantastic in supporting me and given me several options to stay involved with Tottenham. I shall take a view with them pre-season on my future.
"Tottenham has been the only Club for me and if I can’t play here then I shall look to be involved in another capacity."

Probably just 2+2=5 ... again!

Guys can we not discuss Ledders in here please. It's not ITK (as far as I'm aware) and there are threads about him in Spurs Chat.
