This is the sort of depressing rot that was clogging up Spurs Chat after the first two games of the season. One would never think we've had our best run of league finishes in almost 50 years.

Were Arsenal's and Chelsea's dips in form due to the England speculation, then? Or City's brief one? Clearly, it can hardly have helped, but to ascribe all the blame to it is simplistic in the extreme; I suspect the defeats to Arsenal and United dealt a major blow to morale, too, but it's just a fact of footballing life that clubs will have a crap run at some point in the season, just the same way that they'll go on a winning streak.

Bit of a difference comparing two games of a season to an entire half a season isn't it SS57.

Not sure why we're doing this here (suppose kinda on topic) but Arsenal's dip in form secured them 3rd, having sold off major player assets last summer. Chelsea was down to a bad manager set-up yet they've won the CL and FA Cup and qualified for CL. City won the goddamn league.

Spurs on the other hand went from having 3rd place and definite CL virtually sewn up and being favorites to win the FA cup to non CL qualification in a matter of weeks.

Our season was ok and was the minimum that Levy and us as supporters should have been expecting from Redknapp in terms of season achievements.

But to think that the England job had little or not impact on Harry and that future potential job offers would also not likely have an impact is incredibly naive thinking.

Harry is not a bad manager, far from it, but he's not the manager to take us forward from where we are IMO.

As for Ledders - i love the guy but for the best interest of the club i hope he takes the coaching role. The ambassador role would be good too, although not sure how much ambassadoring you can get done pissed as a fart in faces on a Saturday night ;)

Re: The latest bit of ITK, how about all 3. :)

Just going to point that out. Give him an annual coaching/rep salary and a playing bonus. £20k per week and an extra £20k per game would be a way of ensuring we keep him at the club and that we can still utilise him when needs be. The only downer is the 25 man squad issue but i still think he'd be worth having around for the big game mentality that he has.

N.B the £20k's were just an example figure to illustrate a point

Minimum ledders should get is a year deal rather than a pay as you play
Agree but he has to feel capable at the start of the year after his op... he doesnt strike me as the type of player to play on past his body's limits, only he will know that and only he should decide...

I still think Ledley has something to offer in a playing capacity. Like he said, he was playing with an injury at the back end of the season and it affected his form. Earlier in the same season we went a long time unbeaten with King on the pitch. He still has 1 year, maybe 2 years tops as a quality centre back.

The only change that does need to be made is our reliance on him and the fact that he has played everytime he is fit. If we sign Vertonghen then we should have a consistent partnership with Verts and Kaboul for years to come. Therefore Ledley can stand in as and when needed, which in return would be a lot less stress on his knee.

Whether he would accept a pay as you play deal though is another matter, expecially if he doesn't play so much. But i'm confident that he would still get plenty of action particularly in the cups. I quite like the thought of Dawson and King at the back for the Europa League for example.

The Ledley situation is so tough as he must be on good wages, and the 25 man squad rule.

Even on a pay as you play your taking a risk by effectively wasting 1 squad space.

But I love King and hope he stays and if he plays as often as he did up to Xmas this season then its a good deal

Oh this is a treacherous slope my friend. Next, we will see multiple posts about Harry never rotating. Then we will hear the counter arguments that make him out to be the second coming of Raneiri. Then it will turn into a "fuck u" fest. :D

we should make a move for sturridge if chelsea sign hulk, i'm sure a more central role would entice him.
