Following JJ`s Q&A earlier, something that worries me (and probably most of you) is our striker situation....JJ commented that although Ade seemed likely, LDJ, LD & Remy were unlikely...I`m hoping that this is because we`ve simply shifted targets due to our pending manager......IMO we really need to be looking at Ade +1 or possibly +2 if we move Defoe on....

I don`t, I`m just assuming that because JJ said Ade was likely but not `done`.....You could be right, which would make our striker situation even more ridiculous....

Indeed. Ade + one like him - able to play alone up front. Hopefully another like that but AN Other as well just to make sure we're not threadbare when injuries hit (I don't care how well Lancaster is thought of, if he was all that, we'd have seen a bit more of him than we have).

I think that if we are working off the basis of the Players we CURRENTLY have and with the signing of SIG and VERTON and that it at the moment and with MODRIC gone our best team at the moment would be

now we all know that we are and have to be in the market for some strikers and one of them will go in place of defoe. but other than that we have a very good team even with modric gone. we have Sandro to come into that mid to rival parker or partner him against specific teams.
we then have hudd back and livermore.
but we need some competition for RB and LB, and for RM as without bale and lennon (if they get injured or banned) our pace other than Walker is gone. and pace is a huge attacking threat!!
oh and we need a new GK to have a season with Friedel and then take over!!

Also, I think Sandro plays alongside Parker. Gylfi would be a little wider, with room to come inside. This allows the FBs to push up and add width and Sandro and Praker can cover when they do so. I also think Sandro loosens the shackles a bit more this season. More of a box-to-box. He has the engine and speed.
But yes, hopefully we see some blyddi rotation. We'll need to if we have any real pretense of challenging strongly.

Just thinking, if we sign Gylfi and another top CM (Cabaye or Sahin preferably), the core of our midfield would be sorted for a long time. Parker, Sandro, VDV, Gylfi, Hudd and one of Cabaye/Sahin... losing Modric will be a blow but I can live with those CM options.

Think that has been obvious from the start of the TW. I asked about Ade and Remy (and others asked about Leandro and de Jong) because these are strikers we have been publicly linked to - and we know the answers. JJ is not going to volunteer on a public forum new names of top strikers is he - so I didn't ask.
However am sure that we are planning to get at least 2 strikers (one of whim may be Ade) in and those negotiations are ongoing. Hopefully we will get ITK before TW ends in 2 months !
