Ok so let's get this straight. You are happy for player who played for Swansea last season and who was not seen as good enough for a moderate bunsesliga side and a player who has been linked to the might of Liverpoo and Reading to replace the world class talent who has shone at the Euros against some of the best players in the world at the very highest level and a player who has been linked to the biggest club in the world.

I'm sorry but If this goes through it is a MASSIVE step back. This is no where near a like for like replacement. Whatever way you want to spin it. This is not a sign of a club moving forward. Quite the opposite.

Nothing against the player, from what I have seen he looks ok. But he is no where near the level of Modric.

Whoever said he wasn't good enough for Hoffenheim?? They just need the money, in 2011 he was voted by the fans as their best player after only playing 13 games. He probably had a little slump at the beginning of the season, got loaned to Swansea where he excelled and now Hoffenheim want to reap the rewards.

Wasn't his issue at Hoffenheim with Stanislowski? Not sure. Thought I had heard that.

no way will he be modrics replacement

Again where will he play then?

Up front? No

VDV role? Possible but again a massive downgrade

On the flanks? No Bale and Lennon are more threatening

Holding role? Not that type of player

He will play in the centre instead of Modric

Personally I don't think it has anything to do with selling Modric and I certainly wouldn't refer to him as a Modric replacement. He's a very good player at a very good price, so an improvement on the squad. What any of this has to do with Modric I don't know. Our main goal in the transfer window is to improve the squad.

Unfortunately this will probably result in certain people comparing him to Modric if we do indeed sign him. They could of course compare him to Kranjcar but that wouldn't be negative minded enough.

Have we any info on him being a direct Modric replacement? no..
Do we know what position he is going to play? no...
The Bundesliga club is Hoffenheim and they are on their 4th, yes count them, 4th manager since Sig signed in Sept 2010.. unstable?
Voted Hoffenheim club player of the year, voted Reading club player of the year..

This deal should go through, a really great addition, i agree not a Modric replacement by any means but would add some much needed balance to a rather lopsided squad...

Are you aware that we've already sold Kranjcar and will most likely sell Pienaar? As much as we love VDV, he is not a 50 game a season player, so back-up for him is absolutely vital. In Sigurdsson we have quality back-up for an affordable price with the potential to get even better. Sigurdsson arriving has nothing to do with Modric leaving. Belie'e dat bruvva.
