Must say moutinho would be a BIG signing .. Thankfully with avb in charge it actually can happen..always rated this guy .. Very very intelligent player..

He is my 1st choice target to replace luka

Bale Moutinho Sandro Lennon

Yes Please

Unfortunately not a midfield formation we'll ever see under AVB though, try:

Sigurdsson Sandro Moutinho

I'm always weary of buying players on the back of good international tournaments. It usually maximises the price and means teams end up paying way over the odds. Moutinho is a good player but his value is approx £10m and Levy will know that.

Based on Levy's prev transfer window performances I would suggest that this is no where near done

More likely to be

------Sandro
---------------Moutinho
--VDV-------------

With Sigurdsson playing wide right.

I would be very surprised if we could sort out a deal for Moutinho though, as he was one of the stars of the Euros and would command a rather hefty fee surely?

No way. Tournament inflation notwithstanding, he is worth more than that.

Rubbish. He was the heartbeat of a side, albeit a strong one, that won everything in sight under AVB. He's an established international and we signed Luka for £16.5M 4 yrs ago having done less.

Hope this was irony or a joke. Got to say I didn't think it was very funny. Haven't read the rest of the thread yet, so fingers crossed.

a true story that I have used for humerous effect

I will elaborate to reduce the levels of disgust.

I was at the train station (sober and chilled out) dropping my wife off. After she got on the train I left the station and walked towards the Gay nightclub which is on route to the car park where I was parked. I then heard a voice shout out "Oi you f*cking ****!" not once but twice. I looked around thinking, oooo this might kick off, lets be nosey. Except when I turned around I saw the fella was shouting at me. He was worse for wear I admit. He had been thrown out by the doormen. I politely told him to shut his trap and save himself the embarrassment and walk away. At this point the doormen apologised and tried to get the geezer to fuck off the other way. He then became irate, effing and blinding at me. I walked towards him and told him again "If you keep this up mate, youre gonna have a bit more than a hangover in the morning!"

Do you think he listened? No! So I took one swoop with the right and followed through with a headbutt which landed on his upper chin. I apologised to the doormen and passers by and made my way home

Was I in the wrong?

Yeah I agree, the guy is clearly worth a 20 mill price tag, however I still worry he may get bullied in the EPL. I know he is the same build as Modric but Eastern European players are far tougher than ones from the Portugal, Spain or Italy due to the refereeing in those Countries.

That's a consideration but if AVB is really that keen on him, he must think he's capable. And he'd have as good an idea as anyone if it would work I guess. The fear some have, and I can understand it, is that we spunk all the Luka money on his replacement. Would that be value for money? Probably not.

Although I understand your frustration at the whole incident, yes you kind of were as you could have just got in your car and left the pisshead to shout his head off.

EDIT- Shouldn't this be in Chat. Sorry Mods.

Need to shift a lot out, if we get all of the above, probably 10 players over quota.

True. We have 28 first-teamers over 21 years old at the moment (I think):
Gomes, Cudicini, Friedel, Walker, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Gallas, King (?), Dawson, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Rose, Bale, Huddlestone, Jenas, Bentley, Lennon, Parker, Van der Vaart, Modric, Livermore, Sandro, Sigurdsson, Pienaar, Yago Falque, Defoe, dos Santos
(plus the U21s: Smith, Caulker, Townsend, Bostock, Carroll, Ceballos, Fredericks, Gallifuoco, Luongo, Byrne, Mason, Nicholson, Parrett, Pritchard, Kane, Lancaster, Coulibaly)
I would guess it's unlikely that Gallas, King, Jenas, Modric & Pienaar will be registered with us on Aug 31st (for various reasons) - so that would leave 2 spaces in the registered squad.
Gomes/Cudicini, Bassong, Rose, Bentley, Yago & Gio must also have doubts about whether they will be part of the squad.
Definitely need to shift a few if, as expected, there are more signings to come.

Afraid so mate, even for your own safety, the guy could have been concealing a knife or something worse (;) - it was outside a gay nightclub after all). :)
